What a day out!! From being picked up outside our apartment at 7am to being dropped back there at 6pm, the day was a delight of food, drink and amazement at how the beautiful food is made.
The lunch is not for the small eater and takes place in a glorious country location and takes a good 2 - 3 hours, with wine flowing.
The early start is necessary so that you get the full Parmigiano-Reggiano experience as remember it is a working factory, and they do not work around your timings! We did not eat before being picked up which in hindsight may have been a blessing as the breakfast at about 10am is substantial and the Lambrusco Rosso is excellent as an accompaniment water also available.
There are no real reviews that can do this tour justice as you need to experience it yourself. Fabio, the guide is also extremely knowledgeable and amusing, and you do want to take him home with you at the end of the trip. It is full value for money and a full five stars from me.

Alessandro is an amazing tour guide. He is knowledgeable, energetic and funny. We were educated and fed some awesome food and drinks, saw interworking of cheese, vinegar and prosciutto making, and had lovely views of the Emilia-Romagna region. Totally worth the 7am meeting time!

The memories from this tour will last forever. My husband and I took this tour as part of our honeymoon to Italy and we both agree that it gave us a new appreciation for parmesan, balsamic vinegar, and prosciutto. In addition to learning HOW these products are made, you learn so much about the history of these products, their impact on each of their individual towns, and gain a new found respect for the people who dedicate their lives to bring us these products. Accomplishing all this on a single tour can only be done with an excellent guide and Alessandro MADE this tour for us. As a local, he displayed such a deep passion for these products, the towns, and the hard working people who create them that it's easy to get on board with him. He was full of high energy which is key at the early start time hour and has a great sense of humor. He clearly loves what he does and it shows!

The day started very early when our driver picked us up from the front door of our B and B in Bologna. My husband and I were joined by 3 others and along the way to the Parmesan factory, we picked up another person. The large SUV was clean, spacious, and our local driver made us feel welcome. The early hour start time was well worth it when we arrived at the Parmesan factory to see it in full working mode. Alessandro took us step by step throug the process as the men worked beginning with the cream and ending with the final block of cheese. The full tour lasted about 2 hours and finished with a tasting of several various ages of cheese. These was followed with a delicious breakfast and an opportunity to purchase various aged Parmesan vacuum sealed to take home. Our driver then took us to the Modena vinager factory which included a tasting and another opportunity to buy. There was about a 30 minute drive to the proscuitto factory where the tour lasted about 90 minutes. We were then treated to an enourmouse spread of proscuittos and wine. As if that wasn't enough, the next stop was a local restaurant where grandma served us a multi course meal. Needless to say, you won't need to eat dinner that night! If you are interested in really learning and gaining insight as to how these products are made and enjoy eating, this tour is for you!

A great day, well worth the early start, excellent value for money. 3 really interesting factory visits with delicious sampling opportunities! Do not eat breakfast before you go! And then rounded off with a fabulous lunch.

The best tour we have ever done. It's run by the company Italian Days, not sure what impact Viator have on the tour. All the venues we visited were really interesting, great to see the food process in action. I will never complain about the cost of Parmigiano-Reggiano again. A great tour guide, really good fun and informative. Very attentive to our needs. Lovely food tested maybe another option foodwise for the vegatarian's at lunch. Great views from the drive to the factories. Very good, safe drivers. The lunch was brilliant, sat with some very nice, like-minded people. We don't usually spend this much on a day trip, but was well worth the money we paid. Thank you.

What a fantastic tour. I wasn't sure how entertaining visiting some places to see how they made delicious food would be, but this was a great experience. Our hostess was amazing. The food was great. And there was plenty of wine to be had. The stop I had the lowest expectations for, the balsamic vinegar aging farm, ended up being incredible. I had no idea balsamic vinegar could taste like that.

Also met some awesome people from all over the US. What a great time. Highly recommended.
