What You Can Expect

Polynesian Cultural Island Day Tour by 4WD Including Traditional Tahitian Feast on a Private Island

Lunch in the water

Begin your 6-hour tour of Bora Bora with convenient pickup at your main island hotel. Climb into your rugged 4WD vehicle, which is a necessary means of transport for reaching the island's most secluded spots.

As you travel, listen to your guides detail the island's history, economy, and modern life. At Matira, one of the world's top beaches, stroll along the shoreline. Climb to some of the island's highest vantage points for view of the offshore motus, or offshore islets.

At lunchtime, travel to a private motu, where you'll help your guides uncover a traditional Tahitian underground oven and taste traditional Tahitian foods. Dig in to dishes like suckling pig and taro root, as well as a traditional barbecue lunch.

When you've eaten your fill, explore the island or use the provided snorkel equipment for an underwater adventure.

You'll return to your main island hotel for drop-off at the end of your 6-hour tour.

2 star rating: It was OK, but could have been better February 2018

We took some amazing photos at the three stops and the crab feeding was fun but this excursion was not at all what we expected. Our guides were very nice and funny but based on the website description, we anticipated them sharing lots of historical information and tales about local life. Aside from a brief story at the WW2 site and descriptions of a few plants, that was it. We also thought there would be lots of 4x4 off-road fun but the climbs and descents were brief and few. We spent most of the time circling the island on flat road. As for the lunch, it was not a cultural experience at all. There was no uncovering of an earthen pit, no suckling pig, no taro root, etc. When we arrived, fish and chicken were already prepared on the grill available at any Home Depot store. This tour was way overpriced for what it truly is and the website description needs major updating.
