Traveler Tips

Also, reserve a dinner for afterwards at one of the incredible restaurants in the North End, otherwise you’ll be disappointed walking through, smelling all of the fabulous Italian cooking without sitting down to enjoy.

Boston Freedom Trail Tour Was Enjoyable
Robert_P, Aug 2022
Our guide Nick did a great job walking us through the the history of Boston up until 1776. It was a good tour.
Nick was a fantastic guide!
Preston_W, Aug 2022
We had a wonderful Freedom Trail tour. Our guide, Nick, presented the Freedom Trail in an engaging narrative story-telling format which brought all the sites to life. The tour was well designed and kept a good pace and we learned more than we would with a different service. Thanks so much!
Great Tour

Very informative guide who told a great U.S. History story of Boston. It was well worth the expense.

Nick was very knowledgeable regarding Boston's history up through the Continental Congress. He was open to questions, and generally very energetic and accommodating.
Great walking tour.

Ted was an excellent guide. Made the tour interesting. The walk was easy and the tour was well worth it. He was not ugly either, an older Harry Potter look alike. If you get bored with the tour, which you won't be, just look at him. :D
What really happened in early Boston?

Good tour
Ron_G, Aug 2022
Our Guide was very knowledgeable and did a great job in presenting a story line rather than just showing us the sites. The only negative is the tour which was already 2.5 hours went 20 minutes over. For us we missed the next tour as we ran out of time to get there. I felt we got our moneys worth.

Perfect afternoon with Hub Town Tours
Catherine_S, Aug 2022
Perfect tour! Matthew made this 2.5 hours visit SO interesting and included many fun facts. There are 4 spots where we could seat while listening which was great because it was SO hot and humid. When we looked for tours our main criteria was small group (15 people max) and we are so glad we chose Hub Town Tours. We learned so much.

Must-do tour!
Annegret_H, Aug 2022
Nicholas Roberts was an AMAZING guide! His tour was compelling like a thriller, I couldn’t wait for us to arrive at the next stops to find out how the stories continue. Absolutely recommend!
Come prepared to listen, learn and WALK. If you do, you will certainly love the tour. Great meal possible at the end!
Catherine_H, Aug 2022
Nick was an excellent tour guide, incredibly knowledgeable and told a great story. Come prepared to walk, listen and stand for extended periods of time. Excellent content and thorough. We had an incredibly hot August day, but we did it!! Ending in the North End on Saturday night was a total bonus! Excellent meal right after (not included, of course). Proud that we completed the Freedom Trail and we felt we got the best tour!
Response from Host, Aug 2022
American history with Nick followed by an Italian feast is a hard combination to beat in Boston! Our 2.5-hour tour is definitely lengthier than most walking tours in town, but we feel the history demands it. And somehow, smelling those waves of garlic and olive oil in the North End make the last stretch of the stroll much easier! Thanks for choosing our small tour business, Catherine—we love hearing how much fun you had exploring Boston with Hub Town Tours.

A History Above And Beyond Expectations
Roy_G, Aug 2022
A great tour! Our tour guide Matthew was extremely knowledgeable and gracious. No script, would tell more about Boston while we were walking to our next destination. All this while navigating the busy (insane) streets of Boston!. Top notch-- would highly recommend!
Response from Host, Aug 2022
Tour guiding in Boston requires more than just knowledge of history, but some street smarts, too. Matthew has years of experience as a guide through Boston, and we're glad you noticed his historical AND navigational skills, Roy! Please note, we NEVER ask staff to memorize scripts. Instead, every member of our team composes an original narrative of Revolutionary Boston and the Freedom Trail. This way, you can be sure your guide isn't simply parroting a script and is always ready to engage with questions, too. We aim to be the top-quality history experience in town!
Great tour, no detail left out! Book a shorter trek if you’re bringing kids
Toni_F, Aug 2022
Our tour guide, Nick, was so knowledgeable and full of details and factoids. Great tour for history enthusiasts, as this goes the whole 2.7 miles of the trail and sees all of the stops, but my 10 and 12 year old girls were mostly bored. Way too much time and info at the stops for kids (they were the only kids on the tour, so maybe i missed the memo!) It was 3 hours in total, so i guess timing depends on pace of the group and how many questions are asked etc. A great experience if you’re a history buff!
Response from Host, Aug 2022
Thank you for the 5-star rating, Toni! Nick is a walking fount of historical knowledge, but we recognize that the longer 2.5-hour stroll is not for everyone, particularly our younger guests. As you mention, we suggest our shorter 1.5-hour stroll visiting Downtown Boston for young families. OWNER'S NOTE: To clarify for future guests, our 2.5-hour tour does NOT walk the Freedom Trail to Charlestown, but concludes at Copp's Hill Terrace in the North End, with a view across the Charles River of the final two landmarks (U.S.S. Constitution and Bunker Hill Monument). This way, guests are able to SEE all 16 landmarks from afar, but without walking the entire Freedom Trail route. Thank you!
Small group and great guide
Barbara_B, Aug 2022
This was a great walking tour! Our guide was extremely knowledgeable about the people and events during this timeframe in history. My husband is a history buff and loved the tour and the interaction with the guide.
Response from Host, Aug 2022
You've hit upon our simple recipe, Barbara: small groups and great guides! We hope that every guest, from first-time visitors to history aficionados, enjoys our accurate and interactive storytelling approach to Boston's Freedom Trail. Thanks for choosing Hub Town Tours, Barbara!
