What You Can Expect

Bran Castle and Rasnov Fortress Tour from Brasov with Optional Peles Castle Visit

Explore the lanes of Rasnov Fortress on a trip from Brasov

Explore two of Transylvania’s most impressive citadels and discover why the region is steeped in mysterious lore. Your professional guide will pick you up in central Braşov in a car or minivan for the 30-minute ride south to Râșnov, situated among the stunning Bucegi Mountains.
Learn about the storied history of Râșnov Fortress, a walled stone compound designed to ward off attacks by the fierce Tartars and used as a refuge for local villagers during medieval warfare. Explore the time-worn courtyards, ramparts and well of the 13th-century fortress built by the Teutons. Opt to have lunch in Râșnov if you like (own expense).
A short drive brings you to Bran Castle, nicknamed ‘Dracula’s Castle’ for its ties to Bram Stoker’s 1897 Gothic tale and its bloodthirsty villain. The high stone walls and red turrets of this hilltop citadel come into view as you approach the secluded castle, set among the dramatic backdrop of the Carpathians.
Enter if you dare, after paying the site fee (own expense), and wander through the castle’s many well-preserved rooms and chambers with your guide. Gothic furnishings and details help set the scene for ghastly legends of all that happened here, including the imprisonment of Vlad the Impaler. This 15th-century prince was notorious for his bloodthirsty campaigns against invading Turks and is said to have inspired Stoker’s malevolent Count Dracula.
If you’ve had your fill of vampiric lore, your guide will drive you back to Braşov at this point. If you’re thirsty for more, extend your tour by 3 to 4 hours and continue on to the nearby Peleș Castle (own expense to be paid the day of the tour).
The expansive, Bavarian-style Peleș Castle was built among a lush forest to house Romania’s royalty in the 19th century and is among the most beautiful in Europe. A guide will lead you through many of its immaculate, ornate rooms, still adorned with luxuriant furnishings and décor. You’ll also have the chance to tour the neighbouring Pelișor Castle, a smaller royal residence decked out in art nouveau finery.

We had a great tour with Charley last week. He is very knowledgeable and proud of Brasov and the surrounding area. He took us to all of the best places for photographs, knew everything there was to know about Bran Castle, Rasnov fortress and the region in general. Very kind person that made us feel like instant friends. We had a wonderful leisurely lunch with Charley and another couple that was on the tour. The whole excursion went at a perfect pace. We would finitely recommend this tour to anyone. Outstanding!!!

Our guide, Dan, was very knowledgeable and accommodating. You could tell he wanted us to see and understand everything. We saw Bran, Peles, and Radnov Castles in one full day and it was worth every penny.

Our tour Guide was excellent. not only was he able to tell us detailed history of all the locations we visited but he also took us to some lesser known photo-esque viewpoints. at no point did we feel rushed or uncomfortable.
I highly recommend opting for the Peles Castle add on, while it is more of a palace than an actual castle, the artwork, history and overall tour is incredible.

The booking and the fact we could use an e-voucher was so simple. We booked at the last minute but it still went smoothly. The guide, Charlie was pleasant and very knowledgeable. He didn't rush us and even suggested good spots for photo opera unities. We visited the area to see Bran castle and we were not dissapointed but Rasnov Fortress was an added bonus and we'll worth a visit. I felt this trip was great value and the guide Charlie did much more than necessary to make sure we were happy. This is the first time I have used Viator but I will defiantly use them again.

Charlie is a fabulous guide - informative, friendly and inclusive. I completed only the Bran and Rasnov sections of the tour, and this made for an energetic but comfortable morning. The castle and fortress are compelling medieval buildings and their status is well deserved. Many others obviously think the same, as the places were busy. Charlie lifted the tour from interesting to fascinating. My partner was ill on the day and could not come on the tour. Charlie organised a refund through Viator as soon as he returned. Our special thanks go to both Charlie and Viator.

A fully enjoyable tour, highly recommended.
Charlie was my guide. He was very knowledgeable, laid back, friendly and a overall a great guide. I recommend doing the optional Peles Castle visit as well.
I'm sure there are ways to get to these places on your own bus, etc, but Charlie knows the way around and you'll save a lot of time and get a lot more out of your visit by having a guide.

We had a wonderful trip to Bran Castle plus the tour to Peles Castle. We had a cheerful lady sorry we forgot her name as our guide. She is very flexible to our request. As other tourists in our group had to go back to Brasov earlier, she managed to split the group and drove us to Peles Castle. We were very happy that we had the chance to see Peles Castle, which to our opinion is the most beautiful castle in Romania.

We took our tour with Dan and he was a wonderful tour guide and human being. He is so knowledgeable not only about Brasov, and all of the destinations in Romania. He showed us several relevant books on our car ride and answered every question we had, it was a perfect day!

This tour is so great and you save so much time in getting to see all of the sites in one day. It's a great value, and it's a tour we won't forget. Dan was the best possible guide and a really kind and interesting person, he made our tour perfect. He even took us to a local restaurant after the tour to get us reservations, it was the best meal we had in Brasov! The next time we are in Brasov we would definitely go with him again!

Thank you!
