The bear watching takes place from a hide overlooking a large glade - a beautiful and dramatic spot to sit while waiting for the bears to appear. We booked two consecutive bear-watching evenings. We saw no bears the first evening this is apparently unusual - I think it was only the second time in 4 weeks there'd been no bears, but six different bears the second. The first evening wasn't a complete disappointment by any means - it's a wonderful spot, and we saw a golden eagle and lots of fox activity. The second evening there were bears coming and going most of the time food is left out to encourage them to this spot. The bears are close, but binoculars are useful e.g. for studying their faces and the way they use their claws. but Our guide was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. He interpreted the bear behaviour we were seeing, especially the interactions between the different bears. More widely, he also answered all our questions about animals, conservation and local life in the area. Downsides: one of the foods put out for the bears is chocolate, which I'm not sure is good for them. You need to be reasonably sure-footed for the climb up the slope to the hide.

I am very happy to recommend this Tour. It was well organized and the Guides were very friendly and very informative. They went out of their way to help us to be able to join the Tour from another location where our previous tour ended. Best of all we saw at least 5 bears!

We had a great time on this bear-watching trip. We were picked up from our lodging and driven about 30 minutes to a hide in the forests. The guide made sure to brief us on safety, about how we should be quiet and remain at a safe distance from the animal. We saw 5 bears, 2 of which were females. The only thing is that the foresters bait the bears with chocolate, and from an ecological point of view, we are not sure if it is a recommended thing to feed the bears something that is arguably unnatural in their diet. Nonetheless the rangers were very respectful of the animals.

Guide was both very knowledgeable and friendly .
We were picked up from the hotel in Brasov and were just the two of us.
After a ride to the woods with a safety briefing enroute we walked 10 minutes to the hide. We were there for a couple of hours and were lucky enough to see and hear 6 bears a couple of foxes. Which was truly amazing experience. Walked back at dusk kind of scary with bears near by !!
Dropped off back at hotel

This tour far exceeded our expectations.
we were picked up from the door of our hotel promptly and taken with 2 other guests into the forest. We went into this thinking we would be happy if we could at least just see one bear and then any more than that wouldbe a bonus, but we were actually lucky enough to see 9....!!!!!! Yes, 9 of different ages and sizes. The guide was very knowledgeable and told us how old the bears were and how many approximately were in the area, how old they would grow to and how much they would weigh etc...
We were totally blown away by them, they were just utterly gorgeous and adorable to watch. Another guide had previously gone on ahead and planted some chocolate for the bears to eat and they appeared within 2 minutes of us arriving..!!! With the windows to the hide open, we could also hear them coming...
we saw 2 to start with and watched them eating and then it went quite for a little while, but towards the end of the trip just as it was starting to get dark, the forest started coming alive and we saw several more all coming out of the trees...
it was absolutely awesome to see these beautiful creatures, I just can't describe how amazing they are. This is a must for anyone coming to this area. Definitely worth the money

A very special and unique experience. Good overview of what to expect and what to do once we got there. Deer and an owl sighted on the way in. Five bears and two foxes, and even a disagreement between two of the bears. Mesmerizing to watch. A must-do if you are in the area.

This was the reason for our visit to Romania, to see bears in the wild. We wanted to do this as responsibly as possible so We chose this tour. I didn't want to see bears roadside or hand feed them as some cheaper tours do. Not good for bears or people!! We wanted a wild experience. Our guide Alex is so passionate about Romanias wildlife and protecting it, he is knowledgable about wildlife and the native brown bear. Alex drove us into the forest where feeding sites have been set up, we then had a steep climb to reach a hide opposite a feeding station and we then wait. Quiet is essential, we spotted 5 different bears!!!! Some juveniles messing around which was fun to watch, you can hear the bears approaching through the woods. Just before nightfall we headed back to the car, it certainly got the heart pounding as we could hear bears to the right of us in the woods. It was a truly amazing experience, never to be forgotten. Thank you Alex for your knowledge, experience and good coughing skills :-

We are from Norway where we have brown bears, but they are very rare and inaccessible. In Romania they are more common so this was an interesting opportunity. Our guide Calin picked us up punctually at our hotel and together with another couple we drove about 50 minutes north to the forests. There we walked for about 20 minutes through the forest to a hide. In the course of about 1 hour we saw about 6 bears. This is probaby the only chance you have of observing wild bears in the true wild in Europe. A very interesting experience
