Australian Wildlife

The capital city of Queensland, Brisbane boasts a fascinating history, subtropical climate and a vibrant, modern energy. Your afternoon tour begins with pickup at your Brisbane hotel or central departure point in a comfortable air-conditioned coach. Listen as your driver-guide shares tales from the city’s past as a penal colony, and learn about passing attractions like Parliament House, Treasury Casino and Queensland’s iconic stilted homes.

Travel to the summit of nearby Mt Coo-tha for unbeatable panoramic views over Brisbane and Moreton Bay. Be sure to keep your camera handy for many great photo ops.

Then, take a walk on the wild side at the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary, the world’s first and largest koala conservation center. Attend a variety of live shows and demonstrations, such as kangaroo and lorikeet feedings, a sheep dog show and a presentation at the platypus house. You can also choose to purchase an unforgettable, up-close wildlife encounter, including the popular koala cuddle. Snuggle one of the adorable fur balls and capture the moment on film with a keepsake photo (own expense).

Your 3.5-hour tour concludes with drop-off back at your Brisbane hotel in the late afternoon.

This was our first experience in Australia. Brisbane is a lovely city and it was nice to get a well designed tour and overview of the city. Lone Pine Sanctuary Was our initial experience to see Australia's unusual animals. We fed the kangaroos and held a Koala. The Sanctuary was nicely laid out and we had plenty of time to wander around on our own.

I don't see how anything could be improved. We got to see the latter part of the snake show, koala show, and platypus feeding. Photo opportunities with koalas and kangaroos close up. Good facilities, souvenir shop and cafes.

Very good afternoon tour. The Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary was really worth a visit, there were so many koala's to be seen and kangaroos just hopping around in an enclosure which everyone was allowed to go into. Good view of Brisbane from Mt Coot-tha.

Another great tour. Shame about the weather. Very wet on the day but luckily we had enough time to get round the sanctuary before the real heavy rain hit. The sanctuary not only has koalas, but emus and kangaroos too which you can walk amongst and feed if you wish. They are very used to people. Also lots of other native animals and a small reptile collection to view. Very interesting place. Stop offs for views at Mt. coot-tha on the way back. Our bus driver, Bob, was a real character which makes a real difference.
