Antwerp Half-Day Trip (afternoon)After a 1-hour break to have lunch (own expense), journey to Belgium’s second-largest city, Antwerp, with your guide. Home to Europe’s second-largest harbor, Antwerp is often called the City of Rubens after the 17th-century painter who used to live here. Enjoy the city’s well-preserved historical character as you see its top sights. At the city’s ancient fortress, start your walking tour to Market Square and visit the Cathedral of Our Lady, home to four Rubens masterpieces, including The Raising of the Cross.
After some time at leisure in the city center, you'll board the coach and take a drive to Antwerp's famous harbor, the largest in Europe! Enjoy the breathtaking panoramic views from the 9th floor of the MAS Museum (closed on Mondays) and see diamonds sparkle at the Diamond pavilion of the MAS. Then take a walking tour to see some of Ghent’s important medieval buildings, such as the Belfry, St Nicolas Church and the Castle of the Counts of Flanders.
Then depart Ghent and enjoy the drive through the Flemish countryside toward Bruges. During the drive you will listen to an audio history of Bruges and the Flanders region on headphones. Upon arrival in Bruges, visit the Lake of Love (Minnewater) and the Beguinage (a convent), and then enjoy free time to have lunch (not included) before you begin a walking tour. During the walking tour, see Our Lady Church with a statue by Michelangelo; Market Square with the Belfry; and Town Hall Square (Burg) with the Chapel of the Holy Blood. Saturday's trip to Antwerp went well. Sunday did not go as wel. The stop at Ghent was too long. It could have been shortened by one hour. Brugge is a beautiful city but we lost our tour guide and had paid for a boat ride at 1700. The tour guide gave us his phone number, so we sent a text asking for a meeting point atn 1600. No answer! Tried to call him at 1700 and 1715, both times no answer. We gave up and returned to the buss meeting point. So we had no guided tour by him nor a buss ride, which I paid 16 Euro for. I got no excuse nor explanation from the tour guide.

The tour to Ghent and Bruges was fantastic. Jan (male) out guide was very good. The brussels sightseeing was also good but we couldn't get off at the parque cinquaintare due to prior activities that didn't allow tours. The Antwerp tour was good but our guide was not enthusiastic and seemed more into getting a cigarette break.other than that the tours were in time and good.

I've always wanted to explore Belgium a little more after a short weekend visit years back. This tour covered 3 cities where we were provided leisurely time and a quick tour in Brussels which I wish we had more time in. I would say my favorite would be Bruges as its romantic canals, architecture, and cute eateries were all picture worthy! Oh and if you have time, grab some fruit flavored truffles. So delicious!

Oh! Horrid experience with Brussels city tours to say the least.! We were a group of 3 told to come at 9 am. Tried calling them at 8.48 to inform we are on the way could be delayed by a few minutes, but met with no response. We reached at 0903 and the office was locked, understand from Valerie she left at 0856 am. to board the other passengers. Why did she leave earlier than the scheduled 9 am is a question which had no answer. She didnt keep up her timings but left us high and dry because we were late by 3 minutes joke! All calls were unanswered as the lady on duty Valerie had left at 0856 am to board the other passengers. At the outset she refused to believe we tried calling but once the proof was provided shied away saying i was busy as am alone here. That's no justification from a customers perspective.

We said if you were in the office at least at 0903 am we could have possibly made it. Had she responded to the call we would have made it. We were desperate and could do nothing about it. Finally Valerie arrived at 0920 after boarding the passengers and we explained to her our position and to request the bus to come and pick us up. She flatly refused and we again pleaded to allow us to go by cab at our expense and catch up but again flatly refused. Have never encountered such a hostile, rude lady who refused to listen to us. In fact she asked us to leave the office if we continued with our reasoning. We explained we had checked out of the hotel and the weather was very cold for us to spend a day outside as our departure back to Amsterdam was slated at 2100 hours that day. After much cajoling by my son, despite her rudeness she asked us to meet them in Gent at noon which we did, but left us tired getting there and the whole tour was a disaster. I hope this agency is best avoided and Valerie be suitably admonished for her unhelpful attitude and rude behaviour as she is a liability to the service industry. Left me wondering who was the client and who was the service provider?

This two day tour was a good overview of the 4 largest cities in Belgium - Brussels, Ghent, Antwerp, and Bruges. I now know which cities I'd like to spend extra time in when visiting in the future. Both guides were knowledgable about the history of the city and it's attractions. My main criticism was their lack of enthusiasm and engagement. I felt like they were reciting the information from a script.

Morning tour around Brussels was disappointing. Smaller coach bus and windows kept steaming up b/c there was no heat on the bus. Driver dropped us off and we had to walk quite a distance from where we started.
Antwerp/Gent and Bruges tour was a larger coach with better heat and comfort. Tour guide had a large group and it was hard to hear him speak. Smoked alot and used break opportunities to drink at local pubs. Inside the coach, he was difficult to understand due to his accent. Did not have enough time to shop at any of the locations. I have used Viator in other cities and was very pleased with the interaction of the guide as she attempted to get to know her group. This guide, Frank, had no interest in any of the people except when asking for the tip at the end of the tour.

I think it is important to understand the tour you are taking prior to the trip. These trips do not have very much free time where you get to explore each city on your own. They are true tours. Additionally, the tour groups are rather large approximately 20 - 40 people. However, I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of the tours. The guides are extremely knowledgeable and are passionate about what they are doing. I learned an amazing amount on these tours and you cannot beat the value.

The Brussels portion was a narrated van tour of the city and provided you with an overview of the city. It also made two stops so you could get out of the van and take some picture. If you are in Brussels for a short time this may be your best option. However, if you are there for a long time it is a good way to get oriented to the city and you can supplement your trip with other options after.

The Antwerp portion of the tour was especially insightful but different than the other portions. This may be guide specific or due to the fact that Germany destroyed a great deal of the city during WW2, but this tour was less about history and more about architecture. We did see the main church but also toured the diamond district and saw the incredible train station. Our guide was excellent unfortunately I am bad with names and answered every question that we had.

Ghent and Bruges was truly the highlight of the tour. Unfortunately, it felt like Ghent was more of a throw in. It is a beautiful city with an amazing example of a castle modeled after the castle of the Knight's Templar from the Crusades. I thought the city was amazing but Bruges is on a level of it's own. I now know why it is often considered one of the most beautiful cities in the world. The tour was amazing and showed a lot of the city highlights. Our guide Stephan was originally from Bruges and you could tell in the passion which he spoke of the city. I was sad to leave this city and will definitely be back someday. It was the highlight of my trip.
