The Gothic landmarks of Transylvania are dark, dramatic, and dispersed throughout the region’s mountainous landscapes. Travel with ease between three Transylvania highlights, including Peles Castle and Bran Castle (Dracula’s Castle), on this private full-day tour from Bucharest. Delve into legends of Dracula and Vlad the Impaler, and visit Brasov’s Black Church, an imposing 13th-century church. On this private tour, hotel pickup and drop-off in Brasov are included.
On the morning of your tour, board a private vehicle at your Bucharest hotel and discuss the day’s itinerary with your personal guide. During the 2.5-hour journey towards Transylvania, you’ll pass through the unspoiled landscapes of the Prahova Valley to Sinaia, home to Peles Castle.
On arrival at the Neo-Renaissance wonder, built in the 19th-century for the Romanian royal family, explore some of the castle’s 160 rooms, all of which are adorned with luxurious upholstery and antique furniture. Admire an array of styles, including Gothic, Baroque, and French Rococo, before you proceed to Bran’s Castle.
Arguably the crowning architectural feature of Transylvania, Bran’s Castle boasts rusted-red turrets and imposing stonewalls. As you explore, hear of how Vlad the Impaler was incarcerated in the dungeons and learn of the castle’s associations with Bram Stoker’s legendary monster, Dracula.
Then, continue to Brasov to visit the Black Church, a medieval landmark constructed in the 13th century. Hear of its resilient defiance of attacks before you return to your private vehicle and relax during the journey back to your Brasov hotel.
I can consider myself lucky to have such a passionate and knowledgeable guide. Andrew made me understand that I was witnessing a unique event in the history of Romania. We got the Peles Castle in the same day in which King Michael coffin was brought. A small procession took place in front of the palace and was so touching.
Andrew called the king the last moral example for Romanians and he told me about his role in shortening the Second World War. At he end of the day, I felt that I received more than a leasson of history, a leasson about the values of an old world.
Our private day trip to the Romanian countryside for 2 was AMAZING! Our tour guide was Cristi and he was incredible!!!! He picked us up in a very nice, clean, new car with AC. He was so informative and knew everything historical about Romanian, the castles, Bucharest and countryside. His lunch recommendation in Brasov was top notch too! Cristi was an absolute joy to hangout with all day and we felt so lucky to have such an excellent tour guide and all around wonderful person. My sister-in-law and I would highly highly recommend this tour and Cristi with 5 stars and even more if we could. We felt safe, informed and it was definitely one of the highlights of our trip to Romania!
Amazing sites and Florin was absolutely wonderful in showing them!
It's quite a bit of driving but Stefaan shared lots of historical and current information on Romania and that also made the visits more worthwhile. I liked Dracula's castle a lot, but I could see that some people might be disappointed. It's not a scary castle, that's for sure.
We had a private tour for 2. The guide was great. Very knowledgeable and personable- born and raised in Bucharest. Restaurant choice in Brasov was great. Surprised about the real history of the castle, which has nothing to do with Vlad the Impaller (Dracula).
This was a private tour and it was me and my fiancee, so we were in a very comfortable luxury car. Our tour guide, Val, was fun to listen to when he was giving us info about the various locations. When we went, Peleș was closed that day, due to Easter, if I remember correctly. However, we were still able to look around the castle which honestly at least for me was totally worth it as that interested me more than the interior. Since we had gained some time and the snow wasn't blocking the road, Val took us up to a view point that gave us a GORGEOUS view of the valley. Though the drive rendered my fiancee a little car sick with all the switchbacks. The rest of the tour was just as awesome and the restaurant we ate at for lunch in Brașov was awesome though watch out for that first step!. I would recommend NOT planning anything for the evening of though. There was enough walking and wandering that we both fell asleep in the car on the way back and once we got back to the hotel, it was just dinner and bed for us.
My friend and I had a great time. The tour was everything we could have for. Our guide was great, the sites were amazing, and all of the logistics were handled smoothly. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Bucharest.
Florin from Rolandia Tours was fantastic! He promptly picked my daughter and I up from our hotel at 8am. He sent me a confirmation email before the trip to confirm details. We took our tour on New Year's Eve, so I was surprised that the tour was offered despite the holiday. Florin was a wealth of knowledge. He truly knows his material. He allowed us to make changes spontaneously, which we appreciated. It was really fun taking the tour with him. Not only was he an excellent guide, he was a nice person to spend the day with.
Ask for Florin, you will not be disappointed!
I didn't realise when I booked the tour it was truly a private tour. Stefan took the two of us in his car and was a wonderful tour guide. He proactively rearranged the sequence of sites so we would be able to see all the sights listed on the itinerary. He shared useful information about the locations and about Romania and Bucharest. If I could give more than 5 stars I would due to Stefan's personalised tour. If you get the chance request him for your private day trip, you will not be disappointed.
