What You Can Expect

Hungarian Cooking Course with Food Market Walk Through

Budapest cooking class & food market tour

Your gastronomic experience will begin in Fovam Ter, a square in central Budapest, where your guide will meet you. Take a stroll through the Great Market Hall where you’ll learn about traditional Hungarian ingredients. Your guide will ensure that you quickly become familiar with the culinary essentials, including ingredients which have been used in Hungarian kitchens for hundreds of years.

After the market tour, your next stop will be to a professional kitchen for your cooking class. Here your guide will teach you the basics of Hungarian cuisine and technique. You’ll be asked to prepare several dishes over the course of the class.

To help you along the way, Hungarian chefs will work closely beside you to explain the appropriate uses of paprika and other ingredients and spices. The menu will be designed around ingredients in season, and vegetarian and other dietary needs will be attended to.

At the end, enjoy the fruit of your labor! You’ll sit down to enjoy a delicious 3-course meal served with soft drinks. You’ll leave the class with copies of the recipes so that you can impress your friends with your newfound culinary techniques when you arrive home.

I was disappointed in Viator not the booking. Everyone else in the class paid less than us and received their cookbook, an apron, and a bottle of wine. We paid over 20.00 more each and got nothing. I use your service every time we travel and am going to rethink this procedure.

Had a lovely time with Anna cooking and chatting. The market was interesting in particular all the different pickles, one question I had Is there anythin the Hungarians do not pickle?

On to the cooking school where we made a three course meal.all of which was great. I think it was time well spent on our holiday.

This tour was everything it promised to be. Their were only three of us. The market tour was excellent. Cooking was fun, but more hard work than we expected. The meal was very tasty and our best taste of Hungarian food during our visit.

Great experience! My husband as a bit put out that I had booked this for the two of us without consulting him, but he ended up loving it. We went to a huge covered market and picked out the ingredients and then we were taken to a class kitchen where we put together three dishes. Afterwards, we got to eat what we made. Lots of fun! The class was small just myself, my husband, and a father with his daughter, so we had a lot of attention from our instructor. Definitely recommend!

Amazing day! We started at the market where I learned about Hungarian spices, ingredients and speciality items. Then off to cooking at a local cooking school. I made Goulash Soup, Chicken Paprika, and dumpling. I learned what ingredients to purchase and have now made for guests and family to rave reviews. This is a definite must for any foodie!

This was a fantastic experience. We had never done a cooking class while on holiday yet, so we were a bit concerned that it would be awkward or disappointing. Not at all. Agi was a great, personable and helpful guide of the market - we say everything and she bought little tastes for us along the way. Then we took a taxi to the cooking school, which is a proper cooking school complete with professional kitchen with several cooktops, etc. She walked us through making Chicken Paprikash, Gulyas Soup and a cheese pastry dessert. We have been back only a week and already made Gulyas Soup - fantastic!

We had a wonderful time during our cooking class and market tour. The Market Tour was so fun, the market was beautiful and so alive. We enjoyed wandering with our guide / teacher and learning about the various foods from Hungary, talking to the vendors who were all so funny and sweet.

The cooking glass was great fun, there were only 6 of us in the class so once we got to the kitchen we started interacting more and really enjoying the whole experience.

The Hungarian recipes were fairly easy... lots of paprika but it was more about the experience than the food and we left feeling so grateful we went on this tour it was the perfect start to our vacation in Budapest.

This was a totally wonderful experience. Visiting the market with a knowledgeable guide and a purpose was fun. Cooking and learning about the Hungarian kitchen culture was exceptional. Sylvia was a delightful young woman full of talent and stories. I would highly recommend this cooking and market tour.
