What You Can Expect

Budapest Folklore Show and Danube Dinner Cruise

Budapest Folklore Show

Your night out in Budapest will begin with performances from either the Danube Folk Ensemble or the Hungaria Folk Ensemble and Orchestra. Both groups began in the 1950s, with 30 artists comprising each ensemble. The choreography is based on traditional dances originating hundreds of years ago as an integral part of village life. As you take your seat in either the neo-Baroque Danube Palace (Duna Palota) or the Hungarian Heritage House (Budai Vigado), you’ll discover Hungary’s rich history in the music, dancing and costumes of the folk performance. Be prepared, though—it might make you want to get up and move to the rhythm!

Afterward, a guide will lead you to the romantic waters of the Danube where your late-night dinner cruise awaits you. Try some authentic Hungarian fare with the hot buffet dinner served on board, as well as wine, beer and Sparkling wine to toast the beautiful view. Candlelight will set the mood indoors as you make your way past sites such as the Chain Bridge, Buda Castle and the Gellért Baths, all landmarks that contribute to Budapest’s celebrated UNESCO World Heritage-listed panorama.

The cruise lasts a little over an hour, and provides the perfect opportunity to view the glowing backdrop of the city at night. After your meal, take your drink to the fresh air of the upper deck to appreciate the scenery before the end of the tour.

There is also a possibility to enjoy the Folklore & Cruise program if you are not hungry, join us for a Drink & Cruise to relax on our boats while having a couple of drinks. Drink Cruise includes one welcome drink and an optional beverage.

The best part was the show - crazy energy and talent. I have no idea how they keep that level of energy up for an hour and a half!

Excellent folk dance troupe in a charming theatre! Classical musicians on the dinner cruise played the entire time. The Hungarian buffet was very good, especially for a banquet. I had read some reviews that said the food wasn't good but we all enjoyed it. My only complaint was that we walked between the concert and boat which was only 10 minutes away half mile but far to walk for my mother and another person who had to walk slowly. One of the tour guides stayed with us and was very kind. The boat waited until we got there. Although we were picked up at our hotel, Viator doesn't take you back after the event. Fortunately, our hotel was close by. All in all, this was a delightful evening!

Absolutely worth it. Great Folklore show. Very professionnel and enjoyable. The cruise was also well organised and the views at night of the lit up monuments are a must! Dinner on the cruise was very correct as well. All round fantastic.

I wasn't sure about this show but I am thrilled that I booked it....a must see! The Danube Palace Theatre is a small intimate venue, absolutely beautiful! The Folklore show was amazing. This show is a class act and the dancers are just outstanding. The Danube River Cruise was a nice touch to the evening...a perfect way to see the Danube at night. The dinner was actually very good. I highly recommend chosing the hotel pickup....The Palace is a little difficult to find and it was nice having someone drop us off and pick us up right after the cruise.
