Fantaxtic tour excellent guide Michael was very knowledgeable. Interesting winemaker and delicious lunch
I have never been in a vineyard before so I was excited to go on this tour, Etyek is only a 30 minute drive from Budapest and our tour guide Julie was from the area so she knew the place inside out. We tried 3 wine in the first vineyard and you could buy extra plus the first vineyard made their own brandy but I did not bring much money with me, next time I will buy the brandy and a few bottle of wine. I only had carry on luggage with me, next time I go back I will have proper luggage as you can bring back 10 liters of alcohol if traveling between EU states. We went down into the wine cellar and seen a few different techniques they employ to produce wine.
The second vineyard we went to was mainly for a 3 course Hungarian lunch with a few glass of wine from their vineyard, the food was great, I don't know what the name of the dishes were but it tasted great.
I would recommend this trip and it is not too long you will leave at around 10am and get back at around 2pm
HIghly recommend...great tour ! Wines and the lunch were wonderful !
I really enjoyed this tour. The wine country out side of Budapest is hilly and lovely with many small wineries. The white wines we tasted were amazingly good and the dinner we had was excellent. For a really good time as an extra trip out of the city I would highly recommend this tour.
Really really enjoyed this leisurely tour. 6 people and the guide. Great to see outside the city and the guide was brilliant. The people at the 2 vineyards we visited were very nice and very welcoming. Tasted the wines and got detailed very interesting explanations. Loved it.
The tour was exceptional in everyway. Our guide, Ester, was fabulous. Her knowledge and rapport made the afternoon and evening delightful. The winemakers welcomed us with fantastic wines and seemed to love the dialogue about their wines and winemaking. The dinner was like being at home. Do it!
Our guide Julianne was great. She even took photos and emailed them to everyone on the tour. The dinner at the last winery was delicious. It was a great introduction to the Hungarian oak barrels for me.
Great fun! Our tour guide, Denes, is the son of a winemaker and he had extensive knowledge of the region and the wines that are produced there. Plus the group was small 14 which made for good conversation and plenty of laughs. The food and the wines were very good. All in all a very good tour.

This was an excellent tour and with every penny. Our lovely guide Ester picked us up at our apartment and she was extremely knowledgeable. She answered all of our questions and have I'd am introduction to the wine industry of Hungary. We arrived in Etyek which of a lovely green neighborhood with affordable homes and cellars. We enjoyed 12 lovely wines from 3 different vintners. The staff at each were very kind and fun and made for more interesting conversation. Or let stop was the best. We entered the front room of the vintners home and we're treated to a 3 course meal made by the husband of the pair. We met their dog and young son. It was such a lovely afternoon and Ester showed us how much this region had to offer!
Lots of fun. Great guide, interesting and varied wineries. Highly recommend
It was fantastic..Juliana was very informative the tour wine and meal were exceptional..very authentic rustic on the second winery...amazed at how modern the first one was...highly recommend
There were 5 of us on this tour and all of us -even the 22 year old - thought it was a highly enjoyable way to spend a Sunday afternoon. PIcture hot sun, a fantastic meal in the garden, a knowledgeable host Michael, flowing conversation, and and more wine than I've had on other such adventures and you might easily have the stuff of a television commercial. We did the 2 cellar tour, finding all to be good value for the money. 8 different wines/champagnes, a phenomenal 3 course meal, history/culture/wine lessons, and pick up drop off at the door of our choice The wines were of a full spectrum variety - red, white, fresh and young, oak aged and etc. It was also a pleasure to see the actual cellars and presses so much history in such small spaces. This tour is highly recommended.
Tour was very good with three very good vineyards and very interesting winemakers who talked us through their wines. Nice scenery and was good to get out into the country side. Finished of with a nice dinner. Would definitely recommend
This was great! The guide, Juliana, was lovely very knowledgable. The lunch served at the second winery was amazing - homemade cheese, sausages, goulash, and the best apricot cake that we have ever had. This tour is well worth taking while in Budapest.
We took the Etyek wine country tour on 24th August and it was the most wonderful experience in Budapest. We had the chance to try many different local wines, all of which were excellent. The scenery was beautiful and we learnt many interesting things about wines as well as the history of Hungary by the people in each vineyard and by our great tour guide, Julianna. The glasses of wine were accompanied by tasty local snacks and at the end of the tour we enjoyed a wonderful meal, which made the whole experience unforgettable.
Thank you so much!
This was a really fun excursion. The countryside is lovely and we got to taste the local wines. The lunch was delicious with homemade cheese and salami, venison stew and cake for dessert it was our main meal of the day. The tour guide was very informative and we enjoyed our time with her.
This tour was outstanding. There were 8 of us on the tour. We went to 3 wineries, including a wonderful dinner at the final location. The guide Juliana was outstanding--her knowledge of the wine regions was extensive, and she kept us informed and entertained. She really made the group meld. We met a couple from Malta, a mother/daughter from Lebanon, a student from Michigan, and a gentleman from Japan/Brazil long story. The tour started out a bit rough--with a flat tire on the van--but it was quickly rectified and the tour was a highlight of our week in Budapest. We had access to the winery owners/wine makers, who proudly told us the stories of the region and their wines. Strongly recommend this tour whether you are an wine expert or just want to learn a little about some outstanding Hungarian wines.
Interesting and fun tour of the Etyek wine region. Guide was fun and informative and hosts were pleasant and proud of their work. Food was excellent! Really enjoyed this tour.
I would highly recommend Julianna's wine tour!
She picked us up just a few blocks from where we were staying, and the rest of the guests at their actual hotels we were in an AirBnB. From there it's a quick drive to the wine region, and Julianna will be happy to tell you all there is to know about Hungary, Budapest, Wine, and especially Hungarian Wine
All of the wine makers that we went to were joyful to be around, and all seemed to be truly interested in their craft as well as happy to share all their knowledge!
We would go again if we were ever in Budapest!
It was a great experience to see vineyards of Hungry. Hosts were sincere and warm in particular the last 2 vineyards which I like most. The home cooking meal was very nice which was non-commercial and hearty. The meal was taken at semi-covered front yard over-looking the surrounding vineyard. I highly recommend this tour to people who visit Hungry.
