Formerly the summertime grounds of the admired Queen Elisabeth of Hungary, you’ll experience the stunning Baroque architecture and learn the history behind its walls and its residents. Initially the estate of the Grassalkovich counts in the 18th century, the castle was later owned by the Habsburg kings.

Your tour will begin with an interior look at the castle, while hearing some of the stories behind its rich history from your professional guide. Afterward you’ll have the option of walking through the park that surrounds the palace, or visiting the Royal Stables and equestrian riding school. Tours was with Eurama which is a low cost tour agency. The guide was very knowledgeable. Everything went according to schedule. There were nine of us on the tour. The guide spoke in both English and Italian for the group to accommodate different languages. We were able to be dropped off at Szechenyi Baths on the way back to central Budapest which was wonderful as it saved us a lot of time.

Pick up from the hotel but the do not return you back to the hotel only to a drop off point which was strange as we were picked up from the hotel . The castle was pretty and interesting nice morning out.

Excellent tour! Although I was the only person on the tour, it was not cancelled. My guide was an extremely friendly and knowledgeable person. It is wonderful to see someone who has such love and excitement for their country! I am so glad I took the time to take this tour as a student of history this palace has seen some fascinating times. The Castle is still in the midst of remodeling as much was either taken away or destroyed by the Nazis and later the Soviets but it is well worth the trip. And I really appreciate that they dropped me off at the end of the tour in front of the Opera House. I hope I am able to take another tour with this guide on my next trip to Budapest.
