Hand crafted "mate" cups at Recoleta
Meet your guide and group at BA Bikes Downtown, located at San José 525, at 11:15am. Get fitted for a helmet and bike, then set off through the city with your guide in the lead.
Pedal over to Recoleta, one of Buenos Aire's toniest neighborhoods. The market here began in the 1970s with just a handful of crafsmen displaying their wares. Once you arrive, take an hour to wander on your own through the displays of pottery, jewelry, leather, and yerba mate gourds. Listen to live music, purchase some street food, and watch the roving performers.
Back on your bike, head over to the San Telmo market. On the way, make some stops to see the change between the northern and southern areas of the city. Visit the Ecologic Reserve and taste 'choripan', a local specialty, and stroll through the Costanera sur flea market.
At the San Telmo market, take in the old-school vibe provided by the cobblestone streets, old lanterns, and hundred-year-old buildings. Peruse the robust offerings of antiques, and stop by the Sifón de Soda (soda water dispenser), Pinguino pitcher for wine, and handcrafted gaucho cutlery. Spend about an hour of free time in this market before pedaling back to your starting point.
