Begin with pickup from your hotel in Cairns, Palm Cove, or the Northern Beaches, and travel by air-conditioned vehicle to the helipad at Cairns Airport. Pickup and drop-offs from Port Douglas hotels are available for an additional cost.
On arrival, meet your pilot and after a safety briefing and helicopter orientation, settle aboard with the rest of your group of six people or fewer. Fasten your seatbelt and put on your audio headset so you can hear your pilot’s commentary clearly during the flight. Bottled water is provided on board.
Soar up into the skies above Cairns, and take in the magnificent views as you fly northward along the Queensland coast to Cape Tribulation. Pass the golden bays of the Northern Beaches, and peer down at the white sands of palm-fringed Palm Cove, backed by the lushly wooded Macalister Range of mountains.
Whirr over the town of Port Douglas, and have your camera ready as you hover over the verdant, rainforest-coated hills of Daintree National Park.
As your pilot points out different landmarks, take in the course of the mighty Daintree River, gaze down at Mossman Gorge, a river valley lined with giant boulders and tree-clad mountains, and float over Snapper Island, the wooded islet at the mouth of the river.
Learn how the area is the only place on Earth where two UNESCO World Heritage sites meet, and listen to fascinating facts and stories about the region from your pilot. Then, having taken in the views, turn around and enjoy glimpses of the Great Barrier Reef as your pilot tracks the coastline back to Cairns.
After roughly 90 minutes in the air, touch down at the helipad, and end your experience with a drop-off at your hotel.
