A postcard-worthy splash of emerald green ringed by white sandy beaches, Green Island is a perfect base for exploring Australia’s famed Great Barrier Reef. The low-lying coral cay rests within a National Marine Park 15 miles (27 kilometers) off the coast of Cairns. Customize your tour to this island paradise with the choice of a morning or afternoon departure and optional pickup and drop-off from your Cairns hotel.
Board a luxury catamaran and soak up the aquamarine landscape on the cruise to the island. Once ashore, choose from a variety of ways to explore the surrounding coral gardens and tropical rain forest.
Make use of provided snorkeling equipment to where you be lucky to swim withy tropical fish, giant clams and sea turtles, opt for a guided scuba dive (own expense) or view the amazing reef on a glass-bottom boat tour. You can also get a unique perspective of the underwater world on a semi-submarine boat tour (select option at booking).
Visit the Green Island Resort to use facilities, browse shops and rent beach and watersport equipment including chairs and umbrellas, canoes, sailboards and surf skis. This was absolutely amazing. The ride to the island was peaceful with beautiful surroundings to look at. On the island watched a crocodile feeding and saw the animals up close. The glass bottom boat was great, they feed the fish from the boat at the end so you just get swarmed by them. It was a fantastic time. Half day tour seemed rushed but for time sake it got the job done!

Great trip, especially if you don't want a very long boat trip but still enjoy snorkelling.

We took a ferry to Green Island, then took a glass bottom boat to the Great Barrier Reef, and then a submarine. They're similar, but the sub gives a closer look at the amazing fish and plant life. The island doesn't have much on it, but many people went snorkeling, which looked like fun. There's time to do all 3 activities, but the snorkeling will be short. I recommend doing this half day tour, then in the afternoon, adding the gondola ride to Daintree Rain Forest and returning by train.
