Well organised sky rail amazing. Train was like stepping back in time. Thoroughly enjoyed it
Aboriginal shows tremendous .Food was good.train ride OK.But the cable car was out of this world.
A must do tour in Cairns. Learn aboriginal culture at the Tjapukai Culture Park. Enjoy a birdeye view of the tableland from skyrail all the way to Karunda . If you have toured to the waterfalls, it gives you a whole view of the those waterfalls. Have a rest on the scenic train and admire the beautiful view of mountain at the same time on your way back. You might luckily come across some lovely children cheering good-bye and nice old lady waving to you.
Loved the historic train, great staff, good commentary on trip to Kuranda.Skytrain was unique and a very interesting guided walk at the halfway point on way down. Kuranda town was busy with lots of Interesting craft shops to visit, good choice of places to eat. Visited the bird sanctuary and really enjoyed the set up.
What a great trip! Sky rail was AWESOME. I liked it better than the train. Apparently you can pay a little more for a glass bottom sky rail carriage. I didn't know that - I think that would be worth it! My mother and I loved looking at the Ulysses butterflies that were so beautiful blue against the rain forest below. Kuranda was a cool place - but certainly touristy. : Tjapukai was amazing as well. Highly recommended. All in all a fantastic day.
Simply stunning scenery along the ascending journey. Train slowed down at photographic locations including a stop at Barron Falls. Only query was why there was not other languages about the construction history used (perhaps headphones?) as there were a significant number of overseas tourists?
Really good trip. Both forms of transport were incredible. Glad we did Skyrail, it was amazing.
So pleased we did this whole trip even tho a little scared of heights. Wouldn't have missed it all for anything.
Pick up from hotel on time, very good day out with stunning views, would be ideal for all ages
Well worth the detour but try to be near the window on the train. It was quite crowded but once you get to Kurunda that wasn't a problem! Don't only go to the new part of town- make sure sure you don't miss the original hippie village!
The train ride is very scenic and is an interesting experience. Kuranda is a small town filled with small gift shops and galleries and the time there is well spent looking around. While there it is well worthwhile visiting the koala park where you have chance to hold a koala wow. What an experience. The gondola sky rail is brilliant view and exhilarating experience.
All in all great time not to be missed.
The Kuranda railway is something that shouldn't be missed. We were impressed to be given a 2 seater bench, rather than have to share. Lots of information was provided and the stations are full of interesting material, as well as lots of 'gifts'. Plenty of time to get a nice lunch at Kuranda before the Skyway down. It's a long way down and we were grateful for the stops one can make to walk around. The leaflet presumes you will go up on the Skyway and down on the train and gave helpful hints for things to look out for - I wished we had found this earlier. An excellent trip.
Lovely day out from Cairns : Kuranda is a beautiful village, lots of nice shops and a chance to mix with the locals. Train and cable car were lovely - I personally would have liked to have been booked on a slightly earlier cable car, to let me explore the stops fully, rather than a quick pit-stop, but overall, a great day!
A very fun-filled day with a choice of experiences, highly recommend it!
It was a fantastic tour. The Tjapukai Cultural Center was my favorite. The Skyrail gave us great views. The train ride back down to Cairns was really quite slow. Otherwise, it was a wonderful experience. I would highly recommend this tour.
Train ride was beautiful. Too long in te village. Sky rail was nothing a short of amazing
A very overcast, low hanging clouds morning trip up from Cairns to Karunda diminished our enjoyment of the train ride as scenic views were limited. However, by the afternoon on our return trip the weather had cleared up and we enjoyed great views from the sky train. Be aware, however, that the sky train lines to board in Karunda and the stops on the way down are often long and slow. It took us a long time to get back on the sky train at one of the stops because few were getting off to open up cars for those of us who wanted to get back on. The reforestation add on tour was first class. The included lunch was excellent. Really enjoyed the kangaroo steak on skewers after my wife fed the wallabies!
