Your tour begins with an early morning pick-up from your central Cairns hotel and a short transfer to Cairns Airport. After meeting your guide and boarding your private plane, take off over Cairns and gaze down over the outback as you journey to Chillagoe.
After around half an hour in the air, look out for the jagged black rocks looming on the horizon as you descend into Chillagoe. Upon touchdown, you’ll be met by a Park Ranger and set off on a tour of the Donna Cave. Marvel at the labyrinth of underground passageways, stretching over 2,723 feet (830 meters) and adorned with spectacular stalactites and stalagmites.
Emerging once again into the daylight, you'll also have time to admire the landmark ‘balancing rock’ and discover Australia's mining past with a visit to the Chillagoe Smelters, before climbing back aboard your plane.
Continue to nearby Undara, around half an hour’s flight away, where you’ll make a second stop to explore the Undara Lava Tubes. Immerse yourself in the unique landscapes as you take a guided walk through the lava tubes; learn how the geological wonder was created by volcanic activity millions of years ago; and discover the unusual ecosystem of the sunken rainforest that has sprung up around the caves.
Back on the plane, take the scenic route back to Cairns, passing over the rolling peaks and patchwork farmlands of the Atherton Tablelands, then swooping along the coast to enjoy dazzling views over the islands and reefs of the Great Barrier Reef.
After a full-day adventure, return to Cairns Airport, where a driver will be waiting to take you back to your hotel.
