What You Can Expect

Cancun Super Saver: Exclusive Early Access to Chichen Itza plus Early Access to Tulum Ruins with an Archaeologist Guide

Visit the archaeological site of Tulum

Day 1 or Day 2 — Viator Exclusive: Early Access to Chichen Itza with a Private Archaeologist
In the very early hours of the day, your tour begins with hotel pickup in Cancun for the drive to Chichen Itza, where you’ll arrive before most visitors, allowing you to enjoy a peaceful and in-depth experience with your archaeologist guide.

Listen to historical details about the well-preserved ruins of Chichen Itza, a pre-Columbian city that played an important part in Maya civilization from approximately 600 to 1200 AD. Still believed to be sacred by the modern-day Maya community, the site was a pilgrimage and worship destination until the arrival of Spanish conquerors. Hear about the discovery of the site by archaeologists and its UNESCO status, and learn about the mythology and philosophy of some of the ancient ruins. You’ll see sites like the Temple of the Warriors, Temple of the Jaguars, the Observatory and the Temple of Kukulkan, aka El Castillo.

A box lunch is provided on the return drive to Cancun, where your tour ends.

Day 1 or Day 2 — Viator Exclusive: Early Access to Tulum Ruins with an Archaeologist
Your tour starts with pickup in the early morning for the ride to Tulum, stopping for snacks (own expense) on the way. Upon arrival, follow your certified archaeologist guide on your comprehensive exploration of the clifftop Maya city overlooking the Caribbean Sea.

Learn about the history of Tulum, meaning ‘wall’ in Mayan, from the people who once lived here to the unearthing and research of the ruins. An important Maya city in the 1200s and 1300s due to its strategic position on the water, Tulum today is popular for its white-sand beaches. As you walk with your guide, see the multicolored murals that cover Tulum’s white walls.

Enjoy a box lunch on the drive back to Cancun, where your tour ends.

The tours to Chichen Ista and Tulom were excellent. We were very please with the service both to and from as well as the expertise and information provided by our guides!

This was a great trip. Thank you, Marco for all the in depth information on the Mayan culture. It made the experience at the site even better. There are many other tours and tour companies that you can choose. I chose Amigo and luckily got Marco as the guide becasue we arrvied at Chichen Itza earlier than the crowds and the hot weather and then back to my resort in time for more fun in the afternoon! I highly recommend this one!!

Marcus our guide was very knowledgeable. Very early start at 515 and back at 1545. It took nearly an hour before we left Cancun enroute to Chichen Itza and Tulum the following day. But being at Chichen Itza before the crowds and the midday sun was more than worth it.

I must start by prefacing that we were only able to experience the Chichen Itza portion of our agenda and not the Tulum portion. Unfortunately, due to weather and an auto accident, there were miscommunications and we were never picked up for our Tulum trip. And trying to correspond with the local travel agency regarding planning was quite frustrating.

But that aside, our Chichen Itza experience was excellent. We were picked up at 5:40am at our resort and arrived at Chichen Itza right around 8am. There were virtually no other visitors so we had a very quiet experience while we were led around the ruins. Our guide, Marcos, was excellent and provided plenty of knowledge, history, and an all-around very enlightening experience. We were given some free time at the end to wander around on our own. Our driver, Ramon, was also excellent and provided a worry free ride to and from Chichen Itza.

All in all, a great experience. Early access allows you to beat the crowds and the heat and gets you back to your resort to still enjoy the rest of the day. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

We did this tour in late April this year. As promised, we were picked up at about 5 am from our hotel by the Amigo Tours guys. Good bus air conditioner was working well, which was a blessing since outside it was toooo hot! Freddy Hoil was a great tour guide. The best part of the tour was that we got to Chichen Itza very early on in the day, so we had a great time exploring the place without many people crowding about - also a great time to take pictures. The tour gets over some time in the afternoon, so there is plenty of time left in the day to do other stuff. Overall, highly recommended!

Great tours of both Tulum and Chichen Itza. Each day of the tours started with a pickup at about 5:15am from our hotel, but we were back at the hotel by mid-afternoon having had a fantastic day trip to the Mayan ruins. While I can't remember our Tour guide and bus driver for our trip to Tulum they did a great job. For our tour of Chichen Itza we had Ramon driving our bus and Marco as our guide. Marco had a wealth of knowledge and provided a fantastic and very interesting tour and history of part of the Chichen Itza complex we had time to see. My only regret was not having time to spend a whole day at Chichen Itza to 'quickly' explore the whole site - which if done fully would take 2-3 days and even then you could probably find more to see if more time allowed. We had a bit over three hours at both Tulum and Chichen Itza with the guided tour part taking about 1hr each, with the remaining free time to explore the sites ourselves and and check out the numerous local local vendors selling all sorts of items. Both tours gave us a small insight into the Mayans and their way of life. I would highly recommend these tours.

Highly informational tour to Chichen Itza. Super Frank was an awesome guide. Despite the early morning pick up time at our hotel, the early access option was the best for us. We beat the afternoon heat and were able to take pictures without so many people in the background. That was a huge plus!

It was wonderful my trip with Amigo tour.

Early access gets you to the sites before 9am when the morning is pleasantly warm and almost no one is around. By the time we left it was hot and hoards of people were entering. We had excellent guides and drivers for both Chichen Itza and Tulum. Freddie, our guide for Tulum, was especially helpful. My husband Gerry was recovering from sciatica and not able to walk fast, so Freddie arranged for special access to the site for Gerry to reduce the distance he had to walk. Freddie also arranged for a vehicle to take Gerry back to the entrance after the tour. We had prepared ourselves for the tours by taking a video course of the Mayans, but Freddie provided lots of additional information not included in the course. We tipped him generously for the great service.

The only bad thing I can say about the tour is the design of the tour buses. The buses seam almost new with seats that have a lot of cushion but there is not adequate space between each row. There are 60 seats in each bus which means no knee room if the person in front of you leans his seat back. You have to either sit sideways if no one is sitting next to you, or splay your legs so each knee doesn't get banged up.
