What You Can Expect

Chichen Itza Day Trip from Cancun

Chichen Itza: All Inclusive Day Tour from Cancun

From your hotel in Cancun, you’re picked up in the morning for the drive to Chichen Itza, considered the most important archaeological zone in the Yucatán. En route to the ancient Maya capital, stop to explore the natural wonders of a nearby cenote — either Ik Kil or Hubiku — depending on which area is less populated on the day of your tour.
You’ll have almost one hour to play in the deep, aquamarine waters of an underground swimming hole formed from a collapsed limestone cavern, before you continue on to Chichen Itza.
Around midday, start your 1.5-hour tour of significant locations at the World Heritage site, including the ball court, el Castillo (the Castle), the Pyramid of Kukulkan and Temple of the Warriors. You’ll learn from your certified guide why the extraordinary architectural beauty and geographical location have led to Chichen Itza's designation as one of the New Wonders of the World.
After some time to enjoy the ruins on your own, head to a local restaurant for a buffet lunch of fresh salads, soups, rice, meat, chicken, fish, vegetables and other regional fare (drinks at own expense). While eating, watch a festive show of traditional dances performed to folklore music.
Your Chichen Itza full-day tour ends with return transport to your Cancun hotel.

This was a bucket list item for me - I have wanted to see the Mayan ruins for most of my life. The organisation, planning, timing and friendliness of this tour made it all more special!
Carlos Mo - you are the best tour guide I could have asked for! You were so good at what you do, you were so knowledgeable and passionate about Mayan culture and what a good human being you are.
Carlos timed everything perfectly such that we arrived at every stop before the crowds arrived. He was always around to answer questions and to provide a laugh. The time at the ruins was for me surreal. The beauty, history and culture are evident in everything you see. Take lots of cash because the shopping on offer is exquisite and cheaper than you will find anywhere else in Cancun or thereabouts. Lunch is delicious!
The trip to Valladoloid was simply magical - my only request for improvement is more time in this picturesque town. All in all, a fabulous day amde all the more special byt the mexican people.

This was a fun trip. It is a long drive out there, but they put on some old, wildly colored retro bus that made for a fun ride. We stop at a Mayan place to shop, where they took our picture and then offered us a bottle of Mayan liquor with our picture on it. The ruins were incredible and we stopped and a scenic water hole not alcohol but actual hole in the earth. The only thing that sucked was the rain that day, but it was a great trip

Excellent tour. The guide Ricardo is very knowledgeable in history and culture. He is also fun and excited about helping guests know and enjoy the ancient Mayan culture, language, and architecture. The trip is very organized and planned well. We just took full advantage of it and realized it was too short. We stayed in Chichen Itza a bit short but the rest of items was covered well and in depth. Absolutely recommend it and it will be really worth it.

This was a fantastic day trip from Cancun. It was LONG - 13 hours in total from when we were picked up. We were picked up on time, exactly as we were told the guide would call out our name in the lobby, and he did, at the exact time they said. It becomes low level madness in the high season at the hotels, at the morning pickups for the big Chichen Itza tours. There are huge buses coming into the hotel and everyone thinks the big bus is theirs. Our guide walked right up to the lobby and yelled out our name, we were on our way. The tour was extremely information, comfortable the bus was very high end, clean, and the federal tour guide assigned to us was amazing. I loved the international mix of tourists on our trip as well. There were only 3 families like us from the States, and then 11 different countries among the other families. Chichen Itza was obviously the highlight but the other couple stops were great as well. An extra 30-60 minute on our own at Chichen Itza would have improved the experience a bit for us - we only had about 40 minutes after our tour to go around on our own. In all it's a tour I highly recommend.

This tour was well worth the time and money. I'd especially like to thank our main guide for the day, Carlos, for doing such a great job of explaining Chichen Itza and Mayan history in both Spanish and English. He was very knowledgeable, funny and accommodating with everyone on the tour bus. I was mindblown by the wonders of Chichen Itza and swimming in the Ik Kil cenote was incredible. We even stopped briefly in an artisan market and in the town of Valladolid, which were added bonuses as I don't think they were in the original tour description. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone for a great day out.
