What You Can Expect

Chichen Itza Day Trip from Cancun

Chichen Itza: All Inclusive Day Tour from Cancun

From your hotel in Cancun, you’re picked up in the morning for the drive to Chichen Itza, considered the most important archaeological zone in the Yucatán. En route to the ancient Maya capital, stop to explore the natural wonders of a nearby cenote — either Ik Kil or Hubiku — depending on which area is less populated on the day of your tour.
You’ll have almost one hour to play in the deep, aquamarine waters of an underground swimming hole formed from a collapsed limestone cavern, before you continue on to Chichen Itza.
Around midday, start your 1.5-hour tour of significant locations at the World Heritage site, including the ball court, el Castillo (the Castle), the Pyramid of Kukulkan and Temple of the Warriors. You’ll learn from your certified guide why the extraordinary architectural beauty and geographical location have led to Chichen Itza's designation as one of the New Wonders of the World.
After some time to enjoy the ruins on your own, head to a local restaurant for a buffet lunch of fresh salads, soups, rice, meat, chicken, fish, vegetables and other regional fare (drinks at own expense). While eating, watch a festive show of traditional dances performed to folklore music.
Your Chichen Itza full-day tour ends with return transport to your Cancun hotel.

If you're debating whether or not you should go on this tour, let go of all your doubts and just go through with it you will not be disappointed. I went on this tour with my partner about a month ago and not a week has gone by without us mentioning this tour. It's that good!

To say that our tour guide, Carlos, was phenomenal would be a disservice to him. He was charismatic, funny, knowledgeable, and professional. Yet above all else, he provided a sense of authenticity that one rarely expects from a tour guide. Simply put, he will redefine your standards for how future tour guides should make you feel. While I have no doubts that his co-workers are just as good, if you have Carlos, get ready for the tour of a lifetime!

Admittedly, the one downside of this whole tour is the lunch that's included. While it's not anything to be mad at--considering all the other great experiences that are included in this package-- it's not the most mind-blowing food either.

Be warned: After taking this trip, you will not shut up about it.

I highly recommend this trip. We were picked up at the Hotel in Riviera Maya and taken to Cancun where we met our Tour bus for Chitzen Nitza. Our Driver Jesus was very pleasant. For the tour we had excellent guides, Ricardo , Alexi and Jerry who kept us well informed. We certainly learned a great deal about the Mayans. We visited the Mayan gift shop before going on to the Ruins. After the Ruins we were taken for Lunch, very delicious Buffet, then many of us went down to the Cenote.
After leaving that amazing place we were then taken into a Colonial town where we saw one of the Oldest Churches, then back to Cancun where our Driver was waiting to take us back to our Hotel.
My only regret is that as I am not a swimmer, I did not swim in the Cenote, I would certainly like the experience. I have lots of pictures to remind me of this wonderful place.
Thank you Viator.

We would recommend this tour! Shout out to Carlos Moo who was an excellent guide and shared part of his he is Mayan culture and heritage with us. We usually don't take tours but we were not sure how secure the area was and how the drive would be so we decided to take this tour. Everything was on time: they picked us up at 7:25am as we were told and we left every place shopping/rest stop, Chichen Itza and cenote as planned. We read about Mayan culture before going on this tour but Carlos added some interesting somewhat touristy facts about the place and culture. Again, we recommend this tour. But if you are a group of four and feel comfortable driving it is a relatively easy drive, maybe consider doing yourself. But if you want everything organized for you, take this tour.

After reading lots of reviews stating to get a private tour I looked at the cost. Because I didn't look until two days before the private tour they wanted 700usd. We decided screw that and took a chance with this tour. Good thing we did too because this tour was awesome. Our tour guide was very knowledgeably and personally knew all the Maya in the surrounding area which meant we were able to do things other were not. We even got Maya birth certificates on real homemade Maya paper. The bus was comfortable and air conditioned. The driver was not a mad man which made the trip even more comfortable. The only lines we waited in were just for our group which meant no more than 5mins at each stop. Granted I wish we had more time at Chichen Itza because the place is huge but we packed a lot of stuff into one day. The Cenote is perfect after walking around in the sun. You have to see it to believe it. Take this tour, you will not be disappointed. BTW my tour guide was Ricardo. Awesome guy.

Great-long day!!! So much bang for your buck, loved this entire tour. It was fun-the tour guide was fun and informative! Not just Chichen Itza-you get a small Mexican town, which is lovely, swimming in a cenote and all you can eat buffet. It is a long drive about 2 hrs each way, picked up around 7am, made it back around 8pm.

Had a great tour of Chichen Itza with our tour guide Ricardo. This guy is an encyclopedia of Myan history and culture. We toured a Cenote and had a buffet at the restaurant there. Everyone was pleasant at the park. We then visited a small town and watched a native dance in the town square.

This tour was excellent and highly recommended. It is a long day but well worth it. We were based in Cancun and got picked up from out hotel at 7:45am as confirmed after our booking, We arrived home in the evening about 7:30pm. Luis was our tour guide and was extremely knowledgeable and passionate about the tour, which added to the experience. The tour of Chichen Itza is the first stop and it was very detailed and interesting, we then had about an hour after the guided tour to take pictures and look around ourselves. It was very hot and there is not a lot of shade, so ensure you bring hats and sun block. After Chichen Itza we went to a location for lunch were there is also a Cenote, we had about 1 1/2 hours here so plenty of time to swim in the Cenote and have lunch. The lunch provided was a buffet with lots of options. On the way home we also stopped at Valladolid for around 30 mins before heading home. I would highly recommend this tour.

This was an excellent experience. Our driver was safe, thoughtful and courteous. Our tour guide, Carlos, was extremely knowledgeable and articulate. The visit to the Ik'kil cenote was a real plus and the buffet was very good.. Overall, a first rate experience..

We thoroughly enjoyed this tour! It was a long day, but the guide gave us several breaks so we weren't on the bus so very long at one time! Our tour guide was awesome! He was so passionate about the Mayans, and gave us so many unusual facts! We had plenty of time to explore on our own and take pictures too! Thanks for such a great tour!
