Kick off your tour with pickup from your Cancun hotel between 7:00am and 7:45am. During the 2.5-hour journey to Chichen Itza, a 1,000-year-old archaeological site and one of the New7Wonders of the World, your guide explains the significance of the fall equinox.
On arrival at the site, you’ll embark on a guided tour of Chichen Itza’s highlights: dmire the elaborate etchings on the Temple of Warriors; experience the mystifying acoustics of the Ball Court; and witness a majestic display of light and shadow on the Kukulkan Pyramid, the jewel in Chichen Itza’s architectural crown. Shadows resembles serpents crawling down the sides of the colossal temple.
Following your tour, you’ll proceed to the Hubiku Cenote to cool off in a subterranean sinkhole. Then, your tour culminates with a visit to Ek Balam, a lesser-known and therefore less crowded Mayan site famed for its 96-foot (29-meter) acropolis. Climb to the top of the structure and see the monument entrance to the Mayan underworld.
