The ancient world wonder of Chichen Itza is one of Mexico’s most popular landmarks, and the crowds it attracts reflects its popularity. This private 10-hour tour to the UNESCO-listed Mayan monument ensures you’ll receive the undivided attention of your guide throughout the day. Your private tour also includes a swim in a cenote, a visit to the traditional village of Valladolid, lunch and round-trip transport from your Cancun hotel.
At a convenient time to you, you’ll be picked up from your Cancun hotel in a private- air-conditioned vehicle destined for Chichen Itza — one of the New7Wonders of the World. Although your pickup time is up to you, setting out as early as possible is recommended to avoid crowds.
During the journey to Chichen Itza, your guide provides a historical overview of the Mayan archeological site. Once there, embark on a 2-hour guided tour of the complex: listen to commentary tailored to your interests and see significant features such as El Castillo, the imposing pyramid considered Chichen Itza’s symbol.
See, too, the Temple of Chac Mool, adorned with hundreds of carvings of the rain god, and the 1,000 columns of the Temple of Warriors. You’ll then have some relaxed free time to explore the site independently before heading to a sacred cenote.
Gaze down at the iridescent water of the sinkhole, the beauty of which is emphasized by hanging vines and reflections of sunlight, and then plunge into the water for a refreshing dip.
Revitalize with a delicious Mexican lunch and take a panoramic tour of traditional Mexican town, Valladolid, before returning to your Cancun hotel and bidding your guide farewell.
We had the private tour and it was well worth the money. This was a 2.5 hr drive from Cancun and having the private van was great. The driver was very knowledgeable and was there to guide us through the lines and provide details about the country, the Cenote, and Valladolid. We had our own tour guide at the pyramids and he spoke English and provided us with a lot of good history.
We had a great day on this tour! It was definitely a long day, but so well worth it. Our driver was very friendly, our guide at Chichen Itza was so knowledgable and went above expectations to make it memorable for our group, swimming in the cenote was AMAZING. The day was capped off with a quick tour of an old fashioned tequila factory we passed on going to the chocolate factory...we were tired. We were a group of 12 and everyone had a great time.
We had a great Excursion! We paid the extra to have our own driver because we have 2 boys and didn't want to be forced to do what a big group was doing. A 2 hour drive then met up with our guide Henry. He was very patient with my kids questions. Great info. Then lunch (drinks not included).
