The best choice if you're looking for a relaxing, intimate experience of Chichen Itza. This tour allows you more time to wander and take photos of the famous Mayan ruins.
The weather was great. The Chichen Itza tour about the Mayan culture and architecture was wonderful. The knowledge and history of the area presented by our guide Maurcicio was outstanding. I would highly recommend this tour.
Highly recommend this tour, on time transportation and polite driver and guide.
The tour was excellent and I recommend taking a full day to see this amazing site, even then we could not fit everything in.
The guide Rosendo was very passionate and knowledgeable and brought the tour and history to life.
Brilliant, what an experience, excellent guide, it was a long day but worth it. Make sure you have breakfast before you go.
My trip was great. The van I was picked up on was very comfortable and the ac was super cold! Bring a sweater! However it and #39;s a good feeling when you and #39;re riding back from the 2-3 hour walk in the heat. Our driver was awesome and our tour guide was very detailed in giving us the history of chichen Itza.
Great Ride and extremely fun. My wife almost passed out and MAURICE the best tour guide told us to go relax and cool off cause the medic that was called said to take break. we thought we would miss the tour but Maurice told us that when he was done he would come back for us and give us a private tour so me and my wife wouldn't miss anything. it was an amazing experience and would only consider using this company from now on. Thanks guys!
Positives: we had a very quick pickup procedure which involved the tour company to send smaller vans out to pick people up and take them to a meeting point. The whole process took less than 10 minutes for us to change to the tour bus and be on our way. This was the same for the return trip. The drivers were all very good, courteous and safe as well as friendly. A larger tour we took earlier in the week was a 2 hour pickup process before we were on our way. The vehicles were all very clean and newer. The only negative was that the smaller size tour bus was fairly small for a few 6 foot guys and the air conditioning did not keep up as well after the hot day on the way back. The rest of the tour was very positive. Our tour guide was Mauricio who is Mayan and was very knowledgeable and passionate about his heritage. He used a few people in the group to demonstrate some of the actions of the Mayans as well and injected some humour when appropriate to make the tour fun. He mentioned his intention of purchasing a Tilley hat for himself for Christmas to protect himself in his time in the hot sun. The final positive of this small group tour was the access we were given to the hotel on site. We were told that we were guests of the hotel and able to use the pool etc if we wished. We had a fabulous lunch in an air conditioned restaurant which we were so grateful for after spending time in the scorching hot sun to see the very amazing 7th wonder of the world
Enjoyed the tour, luncheon, the swimming, but not the van. It was the most uncomfortable ride. The seats were hard, stiff and non moveable. With a total of four plus hours...it was a back breaker.
I must say that I was impressed by Viator from beginning to end. The online booking process was smooth and easy. I even made schedule changes to both of my tours and the amendments were made with no fuss. When I got to Cancun, I realized that a 48-hr window for booking a hotel pickup was recommended. I had less than 24hrs before my tour! I called the local agent's number and they quickly and easily gave me a pickup time. They arrived on schedule in a modern, immaculate tour bus/van. The tour guide Mauricio and driver Benito were dressed very nicely and they were very warm and welcoming. They've done this tour so many times that all the pickups and bathroom stops were perfectly timed to allow us to get to Chichen Itza at an appropriate hour. They gave out bottles of water before the tour began and again for the ride home. FYI, bring bug spray! The walk to the main pyramid was not far. Along the way Mauricio pointed out several structures and he gave us a graphic and dramatic depiction of Mayan life and culture as it related to each spot. My head was spinning with the mathematical significance of these structures and I didn't follow it all. I just know that the Mayans were really smart! After seeing and experiencing the various points of interest, we went to the Hotel for lunch, which is included in the cost of the tour. You must purchase drinks and you are encouraged to tip the Mexican dancers who entertain during the meal. After that, you're free to swim in the pool, lounge at the bar, or go back to the pyramids to take more pictures or shop and bargain with the many, MANY vendors selling various items. And be prepared for the upsale from the tour guide as there are specialty items that they are promoting. Even so, it didn't ruin my enjoyment of the whole day. I highly recommend this tour.
We had an issue with the planetarium option not taking place, but with a little debate were able to get a refund from the establishment. We enjoyed the small group aspect, being in a van instead of on a bus, and our guide was excellent with very good English and excellent knowledge of both the site and Mayan and Mexican history in general. Good trip for history nerds like us, but very hot when standing out in the sun. We were the only 2 to make it to the end of the tour with the guide. Everyone else dropped out to hide in shade or shop with the vendors who line the paths between structures.
