The pick up was on time and very clean. All our drivers and tour guide were great. They supplied snacks and cold water. When we got back to the van after the tour, they gave us cool scented towels to wipe off with... a nice tough after the warm outing. We did the half day in Tulum only, but heard from others that the underground river swim was amazing. We will difinitely put that on our list next time.
This was an amazing tour. Sebastion was our tour guide and he did a wonderful job with our bilingual group. He conducted the whole tour in both English and Spanish which was a great way to gain some exposure to the language.
The underground river swim was at Dos Ojos cenote. It was beautiful, we were guided so far into the cave where you could no longer see the entrance. Life jackets and helmets were required and we swam at a relatively slow pace so you could look around.
I definitely recommend bringing some extra cash to tip the guide and the driver. It's not required, but it's the classy thing to do. Also make sure you verify your pick up arrangements by calling.
Great experience and way to see both Mayan ruins and the underground river system in the same day.
Our guide Daniel was awesome and provided much history! The underground river was excellent after a hot morning at Tulum.
We booked this tour on Viator, which is recommended through TripAdvisor as well. We did the Tulum Underground Cave swim, and it was a very good deal. It was a small, personalized tour of 7 people.
They want you to call at least 48 hours ahead to confirm you are still going, which we did through our hotel concierge.
The driver, I think Manuel, was fantastic. We were first on the pick up list. There were 2 other couples and 1 other woman. Van was air conditioned and comfortable. It is a bit of a ride, with one stop at a little convenience store where we used the bathrooms and picked up our tour guide, Jeronimo.
Jeronimo was wonderful. He was very lax, personable, informative. On the ride there, he showed us a large map of Mexico to explain where we going and a little about the Mayan expansion and demise.
When we arrived, we were told to use sunscreen, sunglasses, and umbrellas, They also handed out water and large umbrellas.
Once we got through the entrance and very commercialized marketplace, we realized it was very crowded. We had stickers to indicate our group. We stopped periodically where Jeronimo told us about different aspects of the area, the Mayas, the flora and fauna, etc.
His guided tour took about an hour, including time to take pics. He would even take them for your. There were iguanas everywhere too!
After his part of the tour, we had about another hour to wander around. None of our group opted to go the actual beach. But it was very beautiful to look at. Hard to get pics of things, as people were everywhere doing the same thing.
As we exited the area, there was a vendor with water and popsicles for sale at the bottom of the stairs. You could either walk or ride the tram back to the entrance We walked. Bathrooms were in the gift shop. The gift shop was overpriced so we went to the other market vendors. You get a better deal if you pay in pesos and speak a little Spanish. If you use a credit card, you will get a better exchange rate, bu
We had the best time swimming in the cave
Are tour guide was outstanding you can tell she loved her job
At the ruins I wish it would have been at less 1 hour longer

Our tour guide Hector was extremely knowledgeable and entertaining. The scenery was breath taking. Tulum beach was incredible. Would have loved to spend more time there. The underground River Swim was quite the experience, as someone who does not swim well - Hector made the experience enjoyable and memorable as he remained by my side during the entire swim. Thank you so much to the crew that helped make this experience memorable for my family and I.
Our tour guide and drivers were lovely and overall had a lovely day.
The tour was fantastic. Umbrellas supplied to ward off the heat, free bottled water supplied, the driver was personable and a great person as was the guide who was also very knowledgeable! Top ranks here, also after the tour, the van was already air conditioned, bottled water supplied, and get this, treats if you were inclined, but to top it all off was the welcomed cooled wet towlette for everyone! superb people and a superb historic attraction highly recommended.
Exactly one week ago, I had the most amazing experience visiting Tulum Ruins (half-day tour) with Viator. I was picked up in prompt fashion, a two hour drive from Club Med-Cancun to Tulum, and rode in a comfortable and air conditioned van. I was accompanied by 9 guests and our friendly and good driver, Francisco. After 45 minutes, we arrived to Playa del Carmen, where we picked up our fabulous tour guide, Patricia. She brought iced bottled waters and fresh bananas and large umbrellas for our tour. We had another 45 minute drive from Playa del Carmen to Cancun, and during that duration, Patricia was very engaging and shared with us her knowledge about Mayan culture and her passion for Tulum and the Yucatan. Once we arrived to Tulum, we entered through a less crowded area and we were handed the waters and umbrellas, a nice perk to walk amidst the sun! We made a stop first at the toilets since there are none inside the walled city. We then walked together and enjoyed the illuminating tour by Patricia, which lasted close to an hour. We witnessed the incredible constructions of the Mayas that are still holding today and in great shape, some from as early as 900bc, and set against a magnificent view of the ocean. There's a nice breeze and surrounded by tall tress for shading. We then had 50 more minutes to walk on our own, photograph the beautiful scenery and swim in the beach. We all met again and walked back to the toilets for our last stop and then we were given more bottled water and the best tasting bananas and some crackers too, which was very generous! This tour was very well timed. Do note, that it's close to 6 hrs duration since the van will pick up/drop off guests at their hotel resorts, so take that into consideration. Tulum is a must see! Nice meeting you all! and Thank you Patricia! :)

Great trip; however I would recommend booking the trip directly through the company that actually handles the tour- Cancun Adventures. They were exceptional, and very knowledgeable, and really made the trip a great success.
The tour is really well organised: the pick-up was easy in front of our Hotel and on time, Tulum was nice, but I felt the explanation of the guide a bit too bare, but in the same time we had great time to explore by ourselves. Then the swim in the river has been AMAZING and the guide has been accurate in every speleological explanation! The meal on the beach has been a nice end of the tour. A thunderous applause to the driver, that has kept the minivan always super-clean, even after the swim in the cave, where we brought-in a lot of powder and sand.
Was very cool! Sabastian was our guide for 8 people, and we did the underground river first. Not a soul there! kids loved it!!! bats flying, Tulum was hot and the restaurant was great! I liked the fact that he was knowledgable and friendly, that we left early and beat all the crowds.....will be using you again!!
nice place but we didn't spent too much time there overall. After leaving Cancun we stopped at a gas station for 30 min instead of spending it at the beach.
The tour guide wasn't too involve.
Overall a beautiful place worth visiting it.
Driver arrived on time, however the company overbooked our van. Second time this happened during the week. The only way we all fit in the van is because me son was sick and stayed behind. The tour was pretty uneventful but the ruins and ocean view were beautiful. I wished we had more time to shop, and hang out, it felt rushed. The underground river swim was amazing and was the favorite part of the day. The lunch was very unappetizing, but the beach was refreshing and we spent our lunch time in the water.
It was a long trip to and from Tulum. The host was good. It was a little cramped in the small mini-van. I wanted to see what Tulum was like I left there wanting to know more about the place and the Maya people that inhabited it.
