I wanted to such a tour but there were so many tours out there on the net that I didn't know which one to pick as they all seemed great. I was then recommended to use a travel startup yourlocalcousin com which connects travelers with locals for customized travel planning and itineraries. I connected with a local from Playa del Carmen and she told me to pick this tour. It was best use of my 6 hours and the guide Thomas and his crew were great! I would highly recommend this tour to everyone.
This tour was absolutely worth the time and money! Our guide Jessica was amazing. She spoke 4 different languages to the people on our tour. She is extremely knowledgeable about the cenotes and turtles.
Make sure you wear a swim shirt or long sleeves when snorkeling because sun screen is not allowed due to potential damage to the reef. They have long sleeve shirts available to purchase for 20.00. Also, make sure to purchase the zip drive with all the pictures for 30.00. The photographer is with you for the day. Best 30.00 I spent, over 300 pictures.
I HIGHLY recommend this tour!!
We greatly enjoyed snorkeling with the turtles with our guides Malcolm and Yuri. Swimming in the cenotes was phenomenal. My family will long remember this great adventure.
Freddy is the best tour guild in Cancun. The photographer took the amazing picture. Only 30 for all photos on stick. We went 10 miles on a tiny road to visit 2 cenotes at one location. Freddy called it Mayan massage because the road was so bumpy. Each cenotes, one dry, one wet, gave us different feelings. You have to be there to feel it. Really worth it. Lunch was served in a hut in the middle of the jungle.
This tour is great. We started off looking at turtles in the Akumal Bay. We followed that up with a snorkel in two cenotes. Cenotes were beautiful. This was an outstanding tour. Nickolas was our guide and was simply great. Everything was as expected. Transportation was on time and great. This is what you want when you book a tour and don't want bad surprises.

Great experience and our tour guide Ricardo was excellent and knowledgable.
This tour was so much fun!!! Swimming with the turtles and fish, swimming in 3 cenotes, you will definitely get a good work out! Ricardo was an excellent guide, very knowledgeable, friendly and patient for the non-swimmers in the group. He spoke many different languages and was able to communicate with everyone in the group. Victor was our reliable and trusted driver and Nacho captured all of our candid moments on camera. They were all amazing just like the experience. I would recommend this tour to everyone!!
Our young family of 4 throughly enjoyed this tour.
Pick up in the morning was prompt from the property we were staying at in PDC
We saw a few turtles on the first excursion to Akumal - but there were quite a few people there doing the same thing so may have prevented the turtles from surfacing
The highlight was definitely the trip to the underground Cenote!
Our guide was very informative without being too pushy
Overall we had a great day out and would certainly recommend this tour
One of the best parts of my trip to Cancun! The cenotes are beautiful and refreshing. I would have been happy with the tour had we only done the cenotes, but that was only half of it. Snorkeling was amazing as well got to see plenty of sea turtles and other sea creatures.
Sometimes you never know what you are going to get with these excursions, but I was completely impressed by the company and tour guide. The tour guide provided equal amounts of information and entertainment very polite and well mannered.
The only thing to take note of if you are coming from Cancun, it is a VERY long ride. It took 2 hours to get there we had to make a very long stop off the main road to pick up some people in Playa del Carmen which added at least 30 minutes. They picked us up at promptly at 6:45am and we returned around 3:30pm. It is a long, busy day, but very much worth it.
Our guide, Jerry, was wonderful! He was so incredibly nice and helpful. This was one of the best tours I've ever been on. The group was small and we all go to know each other very well. The Cenotes were beautiful and it was wonderful to snorkel at them. Then we got to snorkel in Akumal. We saw tons of coral, fish, and turtles. We had a professional photographer that took pictures the entire time and we were able to purchase a flash drive afterwards. I would definitely advise taking this tour!
This tour was amazing. Just snorkeling in the Cenotes alone is way worth the money. A experience I will never forget.
Great trip. Note that it is a three hour trip once you arrive. it's approx 1.5 hours from the hotel zone. Our hotel was half an hour from the hotel zone, we were collected at 6.15am and arrived back at 4pm. The Cenotes were great and swimming with the turtles was just amazing. They tell you not to wear sun cream as it's bad for the water and animals etc and if you are wearing any to rub it off they say your aren't in direct sun too much and unlikely to get burnt. They suggest you buy from them a long sleeved top for 20 dollars however I am not sure why they don't tell you to bring your own. Myself and my partner were very burnt on lower arms, hands and backs of legs we are not fair skinned even four days later my skin is still sore. I highly recommend taking your own long sleeved tops and very long shorts. Any skin that is on show really should have sun cream on.
The tour guide was fantastic and I would highly recommend this experience.
We did this tour 6/29 from The Hyatt Ziva in Cancun. My wife and two kids 12 and 10. We were picked up promptly as specified @ 6:40 in a nice van. We made three quick stops at other hotels and picked up a total of six other people for a total of ten in the group. It was about 1 hour ride to the Cenotes. On the way we picked up our guide, Marco. He was great, very personable and explained the day. The swims in the Cenotes were great, we were one of the first groups there, not crowded and very nice. From there it was about a 15 minute van ride to Turtle Beach. This was much more crowded than the Cenotes. Being on this tour seemed to allow us to by pass much of the check in. It was quick, we were in the water in about 15 minutes. The turtle part was very well done, there were many to see, no concerns at all. You then snorkel the edge of a reef. Again very well done.
After this part there are outdoor showers to rinse off with clean water which was nice before the ride back. We had a personal photographer with our group the whole time. He took pictures throughout the day. After the rinse off, they show you the pictures on a laptop. There had to be 100, very well shot in various parts of the trip. The pictures on a flash drive were 30.00 which for anyone who's been on these types of things before was a steal. We've done Dolphins in Fl and Manatees in Cozumel, Dolphins in FL was around 175 and you kind of have to buy them if you want any pictures. Absolutely buy the pictures here.
My family all wore swimming sun shirts, based on other reviews I had read before the trip. They were a good call, but you're actually are not in the sun all that much. The Cenotes are a lot on the shaded side. Total 'sun' time was about 1 hour with the turtles. I had purchased some bio degradeable sunscreen based on reviews but we actually didn't use it. As it was unopened, I'm going to return it through Amazon.
Overall very solid experience. Marco was a great guide
What an amazing tour! Louise and Aman were great tour guides answering everyone's questions and providing lots of local, environmental, and wildlife information. You could tell they really cared and loved their jobs. Fernando did a great job taking pictures of everyone and everything. Most of the time we did not even know he was taking pictures of us. It was great to see the candid photo's!
Great tour and our tour guides were amazing. Swimming up close with the sea turtles in their natural habitat was one of the best things i have ever experienced
I loved this trip! Our guide to the keynotes and the beach was amazing and knowledgeable. I would recommend this to everyone.
We had a great tour guide who was very knowledgeable and passionate about sea turtles. She brings a wealth of knowledge and keeps the tour fun and moving. Highly Recommended!
This tour was a lot of fun, and our guide, Raul was great. We went swimming in the cenotes, and Raul explained about how they were formed and the cultural significance for the Maya. They provided a light lunch, then we drove to Akumal where we went snorkeling in the beautiful, clear blue ocean and saw lots of turtles, fish and stingrays. There was a photographer who took pictures at both locations including great underwater pictures of the turtles which we were able to purchase for 30. The group size was small and the van was clean and comfortable.
We had so much fun! What an incredible experience. It was much further from our resort than I had anticipated, but it was well worth the trip. Also, don't forget money for photos and to tip the driver and the tour guide!
An absolutely brilliant tour. Nick, our guide, was informative and fun. The tour involves an early pick up at your hotel and then were transported to a site with 3 Cenotes, one underground, one partially undergroud and one in the open. We were able to swim in the Underground and open Cenotes and just viewed the partial one. You have to shower before entering any water and remove any sunscreen even bio-degradable, so don't bother forking out for the high priced gunk. The water is refreshing and the early morning visit means the light filtering into the underground Cenote is breathtaking and the water is so very clear. After a small mid-morning snack and a drink you head to Akumal and after boxing up your towels and clothes head to the water under strict but fair instructions on how to interact but not disturb, distress or hurt any turtles. The sight of the grazing green turtles on the sea bed just happily chomping on the grasses is truly wonderful and you feel truly privileged to be in the world for a short time. The Akumal beach experience is about 45 mins and throughout the day you are shadowed by a very good photographer who presents a slideshow of his photos for the day which you can buy on a USB stick for 30USD and once you remove the pictures of other couples/families on the same trip you still end up with 60 odd pictures of the tour plus stock picture of the Cenotes and Turtles. A truly wonderful day, thanks to all involved, we shall never ever forget the experience.
Our guide Alessio was very informative. Another member of our group was handicapped and he was very patient with her. I would recommend this to anyone but make sure you ask for Alessio.
trip was great, food was not, and no xxl tshirts to purchase, not a good variety of colors or sizes. My husband really wanted a white one
Outstanding. Loads of fun. We got picked up from the Cancun hotel zone, so kind of an early pickup 6:40 AM. The group will be no more than 12 people, ours was 6. Good size for the trip. At the cenote, snorkeling was awesome. Super clear water, great underwater photos, and not too cold. Felt like we had plenty of time to explore. You're provided a light lunch there good food and just filling enough. Once we got to the turtles, the beach got more crowded. Since they don't want you using sunscreen, suggest bringing a long sleeve shirt or rash guard. May be worth bringing some kind of long pants, too--my wife got burned on the back of her legs. We saw several turtles up close we got great photos and video of them. We had a photographer riding along at both areas, he took amazing photos, they were just kind of expensive 50USD for a flash drive full. The sales were far from pushy, which was refreshing. We got back to the hotel by 3:00 PM, a very reasonable half-day excursion. Would highly recommend. Our tour guide was Louise and she was OUTSTANDING. Personable, knowledgable, and funny.
