Excellent option for those who have trouble keeping up with a tour guide or who don't want to hear too much explanation. You will likely be driven with a few other tour-guide customers the van has max seats for 12 people but left to your own in the Mayaland Hotel upon arrival. We had to ask the guide where to buy tickets/entrance was but afterwards it was just us! Perfect as we love to stroll and walk around.

Long drive but very timely pickup. Once we got to Mayaland we were met by a hotel rep who helped secure our tickets. Wish we would’ve known cash only for tickets but there was an ATM. We enjoyed touring the Chichen Itza without a tour guide because we have kids who would not have liked it.

This was a great option for those who want more time at Chichen Itza to explore on your own without a guide. On a previous tour I only had an hour to see much of the site as too much time was spent with a large group eating lunch and visiting a cenote. My main complaint is that there was inadequate explanation at the Mayaland Hotel on what we had access to at their facility cenote, pool, towels, etc. This did not really matter too much as we were more interested in spending time inside Chichen Itza.

This tour was amazing!

It was a wonderful time. We had the ability to add on the Cenote! Do it. I am glad we didn't have the guide. He was a bit tedious and it was nice to ditch him at the entrance. This is well worth the price.

After an on time pick up at our hotel we were off for a great day. we were greeted at the entrance of the Mayaland Hotel and promptly explained about the hospitality suite and how to enter the myan site. No huge sales pitch like I expected. We were offered the buffet for about 15 per person but chose to skip it. To enter the site it cost 240 pesos or 16 USD per person to get in so factor that into your price.
The ruins were wonderful. Being able to explore on our own was a plus. There is so much information on the web and in the brochures found all over the area that we didnt need a guide. we were given a map and allowed to go at our own pace. When we were finished we went back to the hotel and lounged around the pool and watched the iguanas hang out.
The only down side to the entire trip was all of the souvenir vendors. You cant walk 5 feet without someone asking you to buy the same trinkets but that seems to be the theme of the tourist areas. All of the vendors were lining the perimeter and trails for the site so you could walk freely through the area without tripping over them.

Chichen Itza is an amazing place, but I actually would not recommend this tour

Firstly the organisation was terribly confusing with regard to times and meeting points. We completely missed the Cenote Xtoloc, partly because we ran out of time, and partly because we ended up confused as to whether or not it was even included in our tour!

The souvenir sell started on the bus, as did the offer of a cheaper 'private tour' by the tour guide.

We also were not offered a discount booklet 'with special discounts to restaurants, bars, stores and activities to use at Mayaland'.

We didn't really have time to enjoy the Welcome suite, which in any case was again confusing to find and access. Basically it consisted of a water dispenser, a towel and access to a nice pool. Not sure where the botanical gardens even were.

Lunch was OK but expensive for what it was, but is optional.

All in all I think this tour is being over sold.

It's basically just a transfer from you hotel to Chichen, which was fine. I wish my Spanish was better as the driver was giving the only two speaking customers a history lesson on Chichen. Which was a bit annoying.

Come prepared! If you do not take the tours you are dumped off, no issues just a warning for those that prefer to roam. My biggest grievance would be road safety. Cutting lanes in the corners may improve the stability of a vehicle in the corner, providing Newton's physics are not put to the test by oncoming traffic. it only takes milliseconds of inattention. I'm sure your company motto does not include safety second. Heads up folks we're in this together.

The only thing this package includes is the transportation to Chichen Itza! Yes, access to the hospitality suite is nice, but it doesn't compensate for the shortcoming of the package. I understand it is very well described as far as what it included and what is excluded, but I didn't quite get all that until I got to Mayaland Resort. I realized it when we were separated from the rest of the group by the driver. He was down right rude and basically neglected us because I believe he thought we were cheap for choosing this package. I do have to give credit for coming back to pick us up as we were late getting to the pickup point due to a missed email. I ended up paying for everything - entrance fees, tour guide, lunch, 360 Maya Skies show, and basically, got ripped off... One of the reasons why I chose this package was because of its mentioned close proximity to the Cenote, but it turns out the one within walking distance, Xtoloc, is sacred and swimming is not allowed in it. The one that allows swimming is called Ik Kil, which requires a ride and entrance fee, none of which are again included in this package. I was profusely disappointed for not being able to visit the Cenote.
