I visited Chichen Itza last week and would highly recommend the trip to anyone on holiday in the region. We opted for the early trip 5:15am pickup but this was definitely the right move because when we arrived at Chichen Itza it was very quiet but when we were leaving just before midday it was packed full of tourists - we also avoided some of the extreme heat! We were driven by Ramon and our tour guide was Marco - both were great! Marco was an excellent guide - his English was flawless, he was very knowledgeable about Chichen Itza he said he's been taking tours there for 21 years and he made the day a lot of fun - we really enjoyed the day!
Marco and Jacinto were awesome. Marco was very knowledgeable and explained everything very clearly. I would recommend this tour to everybody! Chichen Itza is an AMAZING place!!!
Amazing! Such a wonderful experience despite the early start. The air conditioned bus took us swiftly to the site during which Marcos, our brilliant guide from Amigo tours, explained the history and what we would see. We arrived around 9am and began our tour before the crowds and the heat arrived. After walking around as a group we had time to roam on our own before heading back to Cancun just as the crowds starting piling in! Fascinating site accompanied by lots of little stalls selling crafts. Would recommend taking an umbrella - not for the rain but as protection from the heat even in the early morning although you can hire them on arrival - and plenty of water. Brilliant tour and well worth getting up early.
We had such an amazing time and would highly recommend this trip for all visitors to Cancun. Our Guide- Marco, and our driver- Carlos, collected us on Wednesday morning last at 05.25hrs from our Hotel. They left us all in peace for about another hour until everyone woke up properly. Marco has a real passion for this tour and is a Fantastic Bi Lingual Guide. We all felt included and he increased our interest in Chichen Itza and the Mayan History with his super knowledge. We loved that we got to the site early so that we avoided the large lunchtime crowds and also the lunchtime heat! We had a really awesome time- and would highly suggest this tour!
So worthwhile! You get there before everyone else and when the day is much cooler. Right when we left the whole place was just swamped with people. I can't say enough about our tour guide Frank. He knew so much about these structures and was able to make Chichen Itza come alive. You could tell how passionate he was about Mayan history. I would definitely recommend visiting Chichen Itza through Amigo Tours!
This was AMAZING! Our guide was FANTASTIC! So interesting and knowledgable. He was even helpful with picking out meaningful souviners.
We were 9 people and stayed in Akumal, GS Mayan Beach away from all other resorts.
Our pickup was at 4.20 am., Transfer van came on the dot 4.20am and there were several pickups on the way, only one pickup didnt go well but the driver was very patient and waited for the 3 female passenger to get ready and get on the van.
Transfer to the coach was done in reasonable time due to the hickup. When boarding the coach we were handed a box lunch.
Our Guide was Mario he was AMAZING! So knowledgeable and shared his own thoughts experience about Mayan culture and answer all questions,
the early access was the Best decision with Viators.
Mario explained extremely well and showed every angel of the Bull court/games, sound travel distance directions, main pyramid, important tablet markings, Vinus pyramid, sacrifice tables/pyramid and relations to modern world.and many more. Thank you Mario
We recommend Viators and Amigo travels for any one.
Call Amigo travels to confirm pickup time
Be ready to board the pickup van Dont make other wait for you.
Take plenty of water, Hats, snacks, Sunglasses, Camera Video Cam, sunscreen.
Most importantly proper working shoes.
Before entrance go to the washrooms, on your way back you will have a mile long lineup.
Finally Purchase the Mayan calendar through the tour operators and help the Mayan community.
We will use Viators again with out hesitation.
This experience was everything. I highly recommend you go on this excursion to get to experience Mexico's historical culture first hand.
We had a wonderful time during this tour. We had great service from our tour guide Frank and bus driver Ramon. I would recommend this tour.
We had a BLAST of a tour! Pickup worked smoothly and on-time, transferring to a bigger tour-bus. First hour the whole bus was quite quiet - everybody sleeping. Last hour or so before arriving, the guide Frank gave a thorough presentation on the Mayan history, also setting the scene for what we were about to see.
During the actual visit, Frank once again proved to be a VERY competent guide, knowing his history. Amazing trip - ending around noon - back to a chilled bus, beating all the usual tour-bus lines arriving late. A DEFINITE must see when in Cancun - and definitely go for this tour!
What a place!! My only regret was not buying the tour that included Valladolid. Will do it next time!! I'll definitely recommend this tour.
Great way of viewing Chicken Itza. It was a pretty big group which meant that we were as efficient in terms of actually entering the sight as I could have hoped for, but we still got there before most of the tourist busses and before it gets really got. The lunch is more of a breakfast sandwich as most people of the bus havent had breakfast, but you can buy lunch at the site! Really enjoyed it and the staff is very friendly and knowledgeable!
Enjoyed the tour. Early Morning the site is beautiful, not as hot, and busy. Frank our tour guide kept us well informed, while allowing enough time to walk around and take photos.
Carlos and Marcos were AMAZING! So knowledgeable and shared his own thoughts about things, but let you still form your own opinions. The early access was EXCELLENT since it got to be so hot, even in the early morning when we arrived. It was worth it to get there early and get pictures before a lot of other people were there. It was super hot! When they suggest renting an umbrella, I would definitely take them up on it. Buy water at the store before you go out into the tour it is worth it. The market was fun to walk around and buy things and you can haggle with the vendors for cheaper prices.
So happy that we went on the early access to Chichen Itza. Everything about it was perfect. Frank, our guide, was very knowledgeable and thorough. I highly recommend this tour.
They were not lying when they said EARLY access....at first i grumbled at the 5am pick up....but OMG it was WELL WORTH IT!!!! the information and history behind this place is amazing!!! i didnt really know what to expect when i booked this tour and i am blown away!!! i will recommend this to ANYONE wanting to visit chichen itza. You get there before the crowds and the sun ..omg the sun!!! please walk with sun screen! if you book any other tour and a later time i think the crowd may have ben discouraging as well as it would only get hotter!!
Frank was great telling about the history, he gave us time to take photos and explore on our on as well. The driver was safe. It was definitely better to go in the morning when it was cooler and not a lot of people. Wish we could have still climbed the temple and gone inside, but Frank did show us some pictures of the inside. Take this trip, it was less time spent wasted, and cheaper than what our resort was offering!
This was amazing! Well worth getting up early, avoiding the crowds and the HEAT!! Our guide was extremely knowledgeable of the ruins.
Carlos our driver was on time, safe and very helpful with questions. Marcos our tour guide was amazing! He very knowledgable and took his time answering questions. He showed a genuine passion and appreciation for the Mayan culture. Our 4 children were engaged and learned so much! Perfect!
Marco Antonio was AWESOME. I wish I would have recorded the whole thing bc it was so detailed and well explained. Definitely want to return. Take umbrella, fan, and sunblock- it and #39;s HOTTT. Also, soak it in- less pics more observations. Really amazing place.
Frank was a perfect tour guide. He did a good job of explaining Mayan religion and how the temple complex was used to perform various rituals. Early access is the only way to go. There was hardly anyone there. When the tour was over the place was crawling with other tourists and trinket venders.
love it.. was early and kind of quick.. it was just what we wanted!
This was a great tour. There was a problem with my pick up which gave me the wrong time, so I had to pay for a cab to get to the tour bus. What made it just a remarkable tour company was that Viator made it right and refunded me the cab fare..To me, the exceptional service part of it is after you've paid. Viator made it right after the purchase. From now on, Viator will be the only tour company I will use when traveling abroad. Good job guys!
