Go with a guide: Avoid navigating Quintana Roo on your own
We were really impressed with this combo tour and were happy to find out that we could plan the 2 days non consecutively. We are a family of 5 with 3 boys ages 11,13,16. Each trip was better than we had hoped it would be. All the pick up and drop offs were on time and efficient. The Chichen Itza day also included a trip to a cenote where we all got to jump in- there were nice showers and bathrooms at this location to get ready in for the rest of the day. We then went to a small village where we had lunch and learned about the Mayan history. This prep all made the time at Chichen Itza more meaningful. The guided tour lasted one hour and we had another hour and a half on our own. This proved to be plenty of time. Day 2 Xcaret was also such a pleasant surprise as we had no idea what to expect. The whole park is very well organized and you are able to purchase add ons to your day at the very beginning. I would highly recommend the photo package which we didn't get, but wished we had. We did purchase their snorkel tour which was FANTASTIC! They take you from the park in a boat to a reef that was exactly like Finding Nemo. Very well priced as we paid more for a lack luster snorkel trip out of Cancun a few days earlier. We also purchased the dinner add on. The show is included with your admission, but the dinner was a must. You have reserved seating and a very high end dinner 2 drinks included We were very happy we did this so we could enjoy the park right up to show time and didn't have to worry about finding food on our own before the show or lining up for a good seat. Stay for the show. It is very well worth it.
