What You Can Expect

Cape Point and Peninsula Private Tour from Cape Town

African Penguin at Boulders Beach

Your tour begins with pickup from your Cape Town hotel in time for an 8.30am departure. Traveling by private vehicle, set out along the cape, following the scenic coastal road along the Atlantic Seaboard. Along the way, pass the seaside resorts of Sea Point, Clifton and Camps Bay, and pause to take in the views from the Llandudno lookout point.

Arrive at Hout Bay, where you’ll have time to stroll around the colorful fishing harbor and sandy beach, or join an optional boat trip to Seal Island (extra cost), named for its large seal colony.

Make a stop at Chapman’s Peak to enjoy the spectacular ocean views, then continue along the dramatic coastal roads all the way to Cape Point, at the southeastern tip of the peninsula. Jump out to take photos of the iconic Cape Point lighthouse, which marks the meeting point of the Atlantic and Indian Oceans.

Spend time exploring the surrounding Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve, where the windswept coastal cliffs make for some impressive photo opportunities, and perhaps spot wildlife such as baboons, zebras, elands, or red hartebeests.

After stopping for lunch (own expense) at a local restaurant, continue to Simon’s Town, where the highlight is Boulders Beach, famous for its African penguin colony. Stroll along the wooden walkways to watch the penguins swimming and playing along the rocky shore.

The final stop of the day is at the Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens, set up in 1913 to protect and preserve the country’s native flora, and boasting a striking setting, against the eastern slopes of Table Mountain.

After an action-packed day touring the Cape, return to Cape Town, where your tour ends with drop-off at your hotel.

An excellent tour. Our guide was Zunaid Arnold. We were fortunate to have 'Z' take us on the Robben Island and Cape Town City tour the day before. The continuity was a bonus as we already knew each other and could carry on the information sharing without repetition. Doing both tours consecutively and with the same guide is recommended.
We were picked up at our hotel. We drove through Cape Town city early Sunday morning when there was no traffic and headed down the west coast to Cape Point. The scenery and views were amazing. We stopped for pictures, morning coffee and pastry, brief dip in the Atlantic chilly and had the option of visiting Seal Island.
At Cape Point, we took the funicular up to the top and then walked down all the way to the beach, The walking part is optional but we chose this over the Seal Island option. The views were stunning. Baboons and antelopes wandering about. Takes about an hour to walk down, moderate difficulty, uneven surfaces and good shoes are recommended.
We then visited Boulder Beach and saw penguins. 'Z' recommended the public beach as the penguins are much closer and free ranging! After seaside lunch in Simonstown, we went to the Kirstenbosch botanical gardens - past the peak at this time of year but still amazing assortment of plants and flowers.
An excellent tour. Good value. We felt our experience was enhanced by having an excellent guide re knowledge and personality.
