What You Can Expect

Private Shore Excursion: Cape Winelands Tour from Cape Town

Vineyards in the Paarl Valley outside Cape Town

Disembark your cruise ship and meet your private guide at 8:30 a.m. departure. In a comfortable private vehicle, journey about 45 minutes to Stellenbosch, where you will do a brief driving tour of the city and university before your day's first wine tasting.

Arrive at one of the country's oldest vineyards for the first five wine tastings of the day, including pinotage, first bottled on this estate. Learn about the production and creation of pinotage from the winemakers before journeying on toward Franschhoek, well-known as South Africa's gourmet capital. Make a stop in the mountains for photo-worthy views and tastings at another world-renowned vineyard. Purchase lunch at a wine estate with great views of the surrounding valley.

Following lunch, head for the Paarl region, stopping on the way to snap photos of the Nelson Mandela statue and the famous prison gate. Drive down the Main Street to see the diverse architecture, then stop for the final tasting of wine paired with chocolate and cheese. Return to your cruise ship for drop-off around 5 p.m.
