Discover the magnificent landscape and Byzantine-era cave churches of Cappadocia during a full-day tour with your own private guide. Explore Devrent Valley and Pasabag Valley, see the fresco-covered cave churches of the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Goreme Open Air Museum, and stop at villages with cave homes and pottery workshops. Includes entrance fees, buffet lunch, and round-trip transport from Goreme, Ortahisar, Cavusin, Urgup, and Uchisar.
Your full-day your starts with morning pickup at your Cappadocia hotel. Travel in a climate-controlled private vehicle a short distance into the Devrent Valley, learning from your guide about the geology that shaped this lunar landscape. Continue to Pasabag Valley where you can see some of Cappadocia's most striking 'fairy chimney' rocks, including one that was the hermitage of fifth-century monk St. Simeon.
Next, visit the cave town of Cavusin, which features abandoned homes carved into the rock cliffs. In the village of Avanos, meet local ceramics artisans and hear about the terracotta ceramics that have been made in the village for thousands of years.
Take a break for a buffet-style Turkish lunch served in a traditional cave setting. In the afternoon, stroll through the famous Goreme Open Air Museum, a World Heritage Site that boasts a number of Byzantine-era cave churches along with sweeping views over the Goreme Valley. Have time to step inside the Dark Church (Karanlık Kilise) and take in its colorful 11th-century frescoes.
At the end of eight hours, your tour concludes with drop-off at your hotel.
