Day well spent

The tour is very well done and thanks to our excellent guide Luigi our day was very enjoyable. The tour starts with a quick stop at lava cave, continue to the base of mountain Etna with an optional trip to the top which is definitely worth it. After the Etna the day continues with a quick stop at a wine tasting place, a visit to Tarmina and ends at the beach of Isola Bella.

This was a great tour! The visit to Mt. Etna was fantastic. My daughter and I really enjoyed going to the lava cave and taking the cable car/4x4 up to the top of the mountain. Be prepared for cold, windy weather as you reach the top. Next we drove to Taormina - a beautiful city. Don't miss the Roman theater in Taormina! The theater is impressive and the view from the theater is spectacular!

The driver/guide was great and I enjoyed the tour. My only issue was the other passenger who vomited in the van. He delayed the tour and made the drive unpleasant.

Our tour guide Luigi was very knowledgeable , reliable and professional, throughout the day, particularly about Mount Etna and its well worth the visit, we were lucky as the weather was perfect and we walked up the side of one crater and saw amazing views. We were lucky to have a great guide and nothing was too much so we were free to take our time and relax. We could not have planned the day more perfectly. Taormina was excellent, making a great end to the day. Would highly recommend.

We booked this tour through Viator, but it was run by Etnatribe. Our group of 4 were picked up at our rental apartment by Luigi,. There was another group of 4 on the tour with us who were from Spain, so the information was given in one language and then the other. Luigi was very good about sharing what the other group had asked - but having the 2 languages did get cumbersome after a while. Fortunately Luigi"s personality and enthusiasm still made it fun as he shared information about the area,, the geology, and the history. Unfortunately, the weather on Etna was rainy and we only got to the 2,000 m. level. We did walk around, but the weather "dampened" our excitement about further exploration (and webcam pictures were not better). Second half of the day was spent in Taormina- where naturally, the sun was shining brightly! We were let out at one gate, and after a couple of hours of exploration, were picked up at the other gate.We went to the Greek theater and enjoyed the view over the harbor and to the base of Etna.I can see why the town is such a treasure. During our travels we stopped at a lava tube cave-looked like a hole in the ground- so involved some careful stooping and stepping to get down into it. And then some agility and balance to navigate the inside to reach the point where the flow cooled. Our group was adventuresome, so could enjoy this trek- but this visit was not for anyone with mobility issues. We also stopped at a family owned shop outside the old town to sample olive oil, honey and wine.-nothing really unique... All in all, despite the Etna weather, this tour was a great way to see the area.Small group tours are much more personal and friendly. Luigi was just a great guide and his personality helped make the tour such fun.

The tour was magnificent enhanced by a very knowledgeable and caring guide. Very expensive though. Price should at least include the entry to the ancient Greek theatre
