Grand Cayman Shore Excursion: Island Sightseeing Tour by 4x4

Grand Cayman Shore Excursion: East Island Safari Adventure

Start your 4x4 safari-style adventure on Grand Cayman with pickup from the George Town port. Climb aboard an open-air Land Rover for a scenic drive along paved and rugged terrain on the island’s east side. Your local guide, who has generational ties to the island, points out popular and hidden sites to your small group. Select a standard tour or upgrade for more sightseeing plus lunch.

Standard Tour (3.5 Hours)
If you’re short on time while at Grand Cayman, make the most of it discovering the Pedro St James living history museum and the natural wonders of the Botanic Park.

First, step inside the restored 3-story former home of an 18th-century plantation owner, now a national historic site. Walk along the verandas offering sweeping views, and listen to the tales of bad luck arising out of the alleged curses set upon ‘the castle.’ Watch a 20-minute 3D movie portraying the struggles of the island’s early settlers and learn about the home’s various uses over the years.

After a stroll through the grounds overlooking the Caribbean Sea, travel eastward to the Botanic Garden, opened in 1994 by Queen Elizabeth II. Explore this trove of natural delights, which includes a wetland lake, woodland trail and Floral Colour Garden. Come upon languid blue iguanas, spotted and striped butterflies, and fragrant orchids, before you’re returned to your hotel.

Deluxe Tour (5.5 Hours)
After you explore the beachside museum of Pedro St James and the Botanic Garden, your journey continues on to amazing vistas with photo ops, including the blowholes along the rugged shoreline. When easterly trade winds act up, turbulent waves force water into underground caverns, creating geysers as high as 20 feet (6 meters). Locating these blowholes, however, can be tricky — dependent on timing and optimal weather conditions — but your knowledgeable guide can lead you to the site at the right time.

This sightseeing option includes traditional snacks and a satisfying local lunch. At the end of your 5.5-hour tour, you’ll be taken back to the cruise terminal.

Worry-free Shore Excursion:

We will ensure your excursion ends with ample time for you to return to George Town port for your ship’s departure. In the extremely unlikely event your ship has departed, we will arrange for transportation to the next port-of-call. If your ship is delayed and you are unable to attend this activity, your money will be refunded. See our terms and conditions for full details.

5 star rating: Highly Recommended February 2016

Our driver Brian picked us up a short distance from the dock and returned us back to the dock in time to get us back on the ship on time. This was a longer tour than some. We went to see the Blow Holes, Queen Elizabeth Botanaical Park and Pedro St James National Historic Park and had local lunch with a view overlooking the ocean. Our driver was very knowledgable on all of the areas. We liked riding in the open air 4x4 vehicle. This was a great trip and would reccommend it for something different over just snorkeling at every port.
