What You Can Expect

Bohol Highlights Tour: Chocolate Hills, Tarsier Spotting and Loboc River Cruise

Tarsier on Bohol Island

After morning pickup from your hotel by air-conditioned coach, travel with your knowledgeable guide from the island’s capital city of Tagbilaran to scenic spots throughout the island.

Start off at a landmark that commemorates the first treaty of friendship between the Spanish and Filipinos: the Blood Compact Monument. Then head to the Spanish colonial Baclayon Church, built in 1595, and see 16th-century relics in the adjacent museum.

Next, head to Bilar, driving through a man-made forest of prized mahogany trees, and passing villages surrounded by lush farmland and nipa palms. Stop at a 7-acre (3-hectare) butterfly conservation center where the butterflies soar free. Your guide explains the variety of butterflies found in the Philippines, and you'll see examples of about half of the 300 species found on Bohol. You can even glimpse the cone-shaped Chocolate Hills in the distance.

Drive through the island’s scenic interior to Carmen, then get close views of the thousand or so limestone mounds that make up the Chocolate Hills. Climb up to the Chocolate Hills viewpoint for fabulous views over Bohol.

Enjoy a buffet lunch of authentic Filipino specialties served on board a 50-minute catamaran cruise on the Loboc River. Enjoy watching the scenery slide by as your guide helps you look for tarsiers — the world’s second-smallest primate, standing only about six inches (15cm) tall.

When your lunch cruise finishes, return to your coach and stop in the coastal town of Loay, a former fishing village that features several backyard industries, including making bolo hatchets for farming and woodcutting, and constructing nipa palm roofing materials by hand.

Your Bohol tour ends with the return drive to Tagbilaran and drop-off at your selected Bohol hotel.

Tour conductor was fantastic with wonderful knowledge and a good sense of humor. The tour was interesting. Especially enjoyed the Loboc River cruise with buffet lunch. It was clean, well run and the lunch had a great selection of American and Phillipino food including crab. The duet on board was a nice touch. Overall it was a fantastic day...well worth the price and highly recommended....fz
