Why Travelers Choose This Tour

This tour visits a top Champagne house and two smaller family-run vineyards.
Learn how Champagne is made, and at the end of this 11-hour day tour, you’ll be able to answer: What is a Blanc de Blancs, a Blanc de Noirs? How is Champagne rosé made? Do ‘Grands Crus’ and ‘Premiers Crus’ exist in Champagne? Is there a specific Champagne terroir?
After early morning hotel pickup in Paris, travel with your knowledgeable guide approx. 90 minutes east of the city. En route, bite into flaky croissants and pastries while hearing about the winemaking region of Champagne and its heritage.
Arrive at your first Champagne estate of the day, such as Moët & Chandon, Mumm, or Veuve Clicquot (depending on availability). Step inside cellars, walk through a maze of galleries and enjoy a tasting at the end of the guided tour. Come away knowing the secrets behind the méthode champenoise.
Back in your air-conditioned minivan, pass through the vineyards of the Montagne de Reims, Cote des Blancs and Vallée de la Marne, between Reims, Ay and Epernay. As you admire the colorful landscapes, learn how to distinguish the three different Champagne grapes: chardonnay, pinot noir and pinot meunier.
Settle in at a family-run Champagne estate, where you’ll meet the winemaker and enjoy a delicious meal of traditional food, paired with a Champagne tasting.
After lunch, visit the legendary Hautvillers, a charming French village. Stop at the abbey where Benedictine Monk Dom Perignon first made the sparkling wine more than three hundred years ago.
Then, discover another family-run winery and depending on availability, see a sabrage (opening a bottle with a blade) or a dégorgement à la volée (pop open the bottle, shooting out Champagne). Here, you’ll get to taste authentic Champagnes largely unavailable in the rest of the world.
You’ll be dropped off back in central Paris in the evening.

Richard was a very knowledgeable and accommodating host who guided us around Epernay for the day. Nothing was too much trouble and he was very good humoured. S.Andrews

Our guide, Victor, was absolutely outstanding: well spoken, knowledgeable, thoughtful - first class! He made the day for us. The House of Moet and Chandon was perfect and their guide, Eleanor was also very knowledgeable and thoughtful!! The two smaller champagne houses and our lunch were truly memorable. Actually one of the highlights of our trip (esp. since we had been on Viking cruise that did not cruise thus a huge disappointment). However that being said, the champagne tour was still a highlight and I would certainly recommend this tour to anyone interested in champagne!!

This is probably the best tour I have ever been on. Richard was fantastic and so knowledgeable. Very well organized, great places to check out, a very nice lunch, and a visit to a cute shop to buy champagne for home.

Richard is a GREAT guide, we loved him! he was fantastic.Even though we enjoyed the tour we were expecting more time on the vineyards as opposed to it being the last 10 minute stop. Lunch was great, the drinks were plenty and delicious.

Our guide/driver, Richard, was very very knowledgable and polite. He is a sommelier who knows his wine/champagne. The day began with him picking us up at 730a another family was with us in the bus so a small group. We visited 3 wineries and had a nice lunch at one of them. We discussed places for dinner once back in Paris.....RIchard was nice enough to drop us off at one of his favorite places, very nice! Thank for a nice day in the Champagne countryside Richard!

Our guide, Richard ?, was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about champagne. They were wonderfully kind to drive me to a place close to my hotel so that I did not have to navigate the Metro or walk a long way by myself. The 3 wineries we visited were quite different however, there was a great deal of overlap in the information provided. Lunch was phenomenal! I was a little worried since there was no speaker in the van, the guide would look at those of us in the back while driving in Paris traffic. Perhaps that is normal, but I found it disconcerting. The only other problem was that he talked very rapidly. I should have made it clear that I have a hearing problem so that he would have known to slow down. All in all, a good but long day.

I wish I could rate higher. This was a highlight of our entire Eiropean vacation. Clement was such a great tour guide. He was so knowledgeable about wine and champagne and the wine business. He was also a pleasure to hang with for the entire day. Thoroughly enjoyed Veuve Clicot! Highly recommended!

Delicious champagne and beautiful views. For our large champagne house we went to Pommery which was great, you get a tour of their chalk cellars and a full glass of brut champagne. Then we went to the church were Dom Perignon worked out. The lunch with champagne pairing was wonderful! The food was excellent and we loved the champagne pairing with each course, we had 4 glasses. After lunch we stopped to check out the vineyards and had beautiful views. The final champagne house we were able to see a little more how champagne was made and had 3 samples not full glasses of champagne. he only downfall to this tour is there is A LOT of time spent driving and I felt like I was in a van most of the day. It's no one's fault, thats just the way it has to be. If I could make any suggestions it would be to remove the church the Dom Perignon was a part of.

This certainly was a highlight of our time in France. We felt fortunate to have such a knowledgeable guide in Clement. Clement's experience gained from working both in Paris and abroad really added to the experience. Clement had both studied and worked in Australia which really helped us relate the Champagne experience to our own wine experience. The tour itself was well thought out. Taittinger was an incredible location and the tunnels that house the bottles of wine are as stunning as the wine itself. Lunch at Champange Julien Chopin was simple but delicious. A perfect match for the tastings. And we finished our tour with a visit to Dom Caudron. An amazing facility in such a small village. This was a great day and recommend this tour to anyone wanting to learn more about Champagne, or to just visit stunning countryside while tasting delicious Champagne
