Charleston Carriage Works

For centuries Charleston has been a hub of culture, class, charm, and national history. The British settled here in 1670 and quickly established her as one of the most important cities in America. As years passed, Charleston thrived and evolved all while keeping her unique personality. A beautiful harbor as rich in history as it is rich in breathtaking vistas. Centuries old homes kept in pristine condition by their proud residents. Cobblestone streets. One-of-a-kind shops and vendors. Charleston has it all. And we'd love to introduce her to you with a Carriage Tour experience that is classic and unique as she.  Each of our tours is an hour long and covers 2-3 miles of Charleston’s residential Historic District. They are narrated by some of Charleston’s best city-licensed tour guides who are happy to share their local insight with you. Tours load and depart about every 30 minutes from our stable at 20 Anson Street.

The young man giving the tour was a wealth of information. I took the same carriage tour with another company and I as deeply disappointed with their company. This was a very different experience and so glad I decided to give this company a try. Thank you Daniel for a great tour!
Great tour with Charleston Carriage Works!
Jeremiah_M, Aug 2021
Great tour with Mikey the horse with lots of Charleston history. Something my wife and I would definitely do again when in the area. Charleston Carriage Works takes really good care of their horses.
We had the best tour guide that this company offers.

Rocky and Eric were great. Eric was very entertaining and knowledgeable. Filled the tour with beautiful sites, history and comedy.
Donnie_H, Apr 2019
A very disappointing tour. Looking over buildings to see old steeples, lots of non-descript homes, and a rude guide. Biggest waste of $52 ever
Highly Recommend this carriage tour
Bette_W, Mar 2019

Charming and Really Interesting
Kelly W, Jul 2018
Loved the Draft horses, and they are treated very well. Bring them a carrot. Our horse was Donald. Learn about Charleston's colorful history the southern way, light & easy with humor and stares from other tourists. The tours cover a large area and the intimate stories about families and battles is very interesting. Also great way to scout out places to dine or explore on your own later. Fun & different...highly recommend. We went in May, only drawback was the heat & humidity.
A fun history lesson
Jarred_M, Jul 2018
This was well worth the ticket price! It's a fun, quick way to learn some of the history of a beautiful southern city. Our guide was great and our horse, Dale, was quite the character as well

I would like the guide to move a little SLOWER so that the group can actually study and understand all that is being said. I was also under the impression that we were going to tour the area around Battery of historic homes ....until I found out the tour is actually determined by a ping pongball a la state lottery style as to where the carriage will actually go. I was also promised 5 off on the purchase of my tickets thought did not accept the discount code I entered and immediately went to the paid page with the full price. That was a little disappointing but not a deal breaker. Overall it was a nice adventure. Definitely a must do while in Charleston.
