Private Day Tour: Panda Base and Museum of Sichuan Cuisine with Cooking Lesson

panda base

Be ready for adventure at 7:30am, when your private guide meets you outside the entrance to your hotel. Board a private tour vehicle and head for the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding, just 30 minutes' drive away.

Disembark and spend the next three hours exploring with your private guide. Learn about conservation and rehabilitation efforts for this endangered species. View pandas relaxing, playing, and munching on bamboo in their spacious enclosures. At the center's museum, see displays detailing the very first successful giant panda breeding efforts accomplished here. You'll also see veterinary exhibits, flocks of birds, golden monkeys, a koi pond, and red pandas.

Around 11 am, you'll get back in the tour vehicle and depart for the Museum of Sichuan Cuisine, roughly 90 minutes away.

Start out with a class led by a master chef, during which you'll learn how to make classics such as kung pao chicken and traditional dumplings. Sit down to taste the fruits of our labor, then enjoy a guided tour of the museum. Exhibits feature farming equipment and cooking tools used in the province for centuries, and you'll learn how the regional spicy chili bean paste is made.

Wind up your tour and head back to Chengdu for drop-off around 5:30pm.
