Immerse yourself in this remote region of northern Thailand for an unforgettable experience! Your adventure-packed tour includes two days of trekking through mountainous jungle terrain – a moderate level of difficulty. Since you will carry your own backpack and personal supplies, you will need a decent level of fitness to participate.
This cultural experience includes two nights accommodation in bamboo huts in a hill tribe village, where living conditions are basic. With two nights accommodation at 2-star hotels in Chiang Mai, you’ll also have plenty of opportunities to explore the exciting northern capital in your spare time.
Day 1: Chiang Mai
Arrive at your hotel in Chiang Mai any time before your welcome meeting at 6.30pm. If you arrive early, embark on a discovery of northern Thailand’s vibrant capital, including hundreds of stunning temples, a picturesque riverfront, great shopping and an abundance of local eateries serving delectable Thai cuisine. After your welcome meeting, you can join your guide on a leisure walk through the old city or rent a bicycle to explore Chiang Mai on your own (all activities at own expense).

Day 2-3: Chiang Mai – Hill Tribe Trekking (1B, 2L, 2D)
Your guide will collect your small group from your hotel around 8:45am. Depart from Chiang Mai by songthaew (open pickup truck) as you anticipate the trekking adventure ahead! On your three-hour (approximate) drive heading north, you will be immersed in the locals’ way of travel through city and countryside as you are joined by various local characters.
After lunch, hoist on your backpack and head into the hills on a two-day trek through tropical jungle, hiking for about four to five hours each day at a moderate but comfortable pace. Your guide will determine the exact routes and itinerary, which may change from time to time according to weather and local conditions.
Walk through green fields and stop at remote waterfalls along winding forest tracks. Pass through a variety of hill tribe villages, meeting people with their own distinct languages, clothing styles, customs and belief systems. You’ll stay in a different hill tribe village each night to interact with the locals and observe authentic village life.
Feel free to explore each village, help prepare the evening meals and communicate with your hill tribe hosts (with help from your guide). During your visits, meet elephants rescued from the wild and learn about the important work mahouts (elephant trainer) do to care for and protect these gentle beasts. Join the locals for a freshly prepared dinner and then sleep in a traditional (and basic) bamboo mountain hut, awakening to the sounds of village life in the jungle as you relish your once-in-a-lifetime experience!
Meals during the daytime will be prepared by your guide during your jungle adventure. Midday through your trekking, a stop will be made, allowing for relaxation and a simple lunch of rice and noodles with your fellow travelers.

Day 4: Hill Tribe Trekking – Chiang Mai (B)
Your hill tribe adventure comes to a close as you complete your trek through the jungle terrain of northern Thailand. Your guide will return your small group by songthaew to Chiang Mai in the afternoon. Enjoy your evening at leisure, perhaps with a trip to the Night Bazaar or a traditional Thai massage to soothe those sore muscles!

Day 5: Chiang Mai
Without any planned activities for the day, you are free to leave at any time. Say goodbye to your fellow travelers or choose to stay in Chiang Mai for a few extra days. Explore ancient temples – ride to the gorgeous hilltop temple of Wat Phrathat Doi Sutep for stunning views of the city – or sign up for a Thai cooking class and savor the regional Thai cuisine.
