Take a boat on the Khong River and stop by the Golden Triangle
Sit down for an international buffet lunch or Thai cuisine
Hotel pickup and drop-off by air-conditioned minivan
Start your day trip with hotel pickup in Chiang Mai and hop aboard an air-conditioned minivan departing for Chiang Rai Province. En route, your guide makes a brief stop at Mae Khachan Hot Spring for a break.
Continuing on, you’ll visit the privately owned Wat Rong Khun, known as the White Temple. Admire its unique decor made of glass, sculptural pieces and murals all designed by a famous Thai artist.
Afterward, head to Chiang Saen, a river town strewn with the ruins of ancient temples. Listen as your guide shares the history of the former Thai kingdom. Then savor lunch at a local restaurant specializing in Thai dishes or an international buffet — your choice.
Next, move on to a temple overlook to view the Golden Triangle then hop aboard a long-tail boat for a ride on the Khong River. You’ll arrive at the point where Myanmar, Laos and Thailand meet, and stop at a local Laos village (bring your passport). Visit the Hall of Opium, a private museum on the former opium trade, before a return transfer to your hotel in Chiang Mai.
Amazing tour with an on-time pickup. It's meant to be a rushed tour given the sightseeing spots we need to cover in one day, but it's worth it to see the Golden Triangle and have a chance to see tidbits of Laos. I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a good, action-packed 1-day adventure.
This is a LONG day - 13 hours of touring. Our guides were great John and Linda and kept things moving, as well as knowing the delicate balance of letting us sit in quiet. A trip to Laos, Golden Triangle, Opium Museum and the absolute amazing White Temple are all worth the visit! It can be incredibly hot at the white temple - but the guides were ready with cold water and wipes upon our return. The stop at the hot springs is pretty lame, but it did break up the long journey to Chiang Rai.
Nice trip to several places around Chiang Rai, especially including the Golden triangle area. Riding a small boat across the river to the border village of Laos was very interesting experience. The while temple was so beautiful.
This trip is quite a new experience to us. Good for family trip. Tour guide is knowledgeable of the area, speaks good english and made sure that his guests are comfortable.
I am AMAZED at how much this tour included, especially for the price! Our guide, Arrow and his colleague driver were FABULOUS! the itinerary provided is not nearly an accurate description of all the tour includes. I highly recommend this trip, just for the food alone seriously the best we had during our holiday. And if you are lucky enough to be paired with the same guide, you are in for a treat!!
Long day but worth it. Pick up on time, comfortable van, small group with a more intimate experience. Our driver Max was great and Toi, our guide was outstanding, they made sure to make it to the attractions before the big tour groups showed up and ruin it for everyone.
There was always cold water on the van and moist towelettes after every stop. Lunch was one of the best meals we had in all of Thailand.
They were acomodating of vegetarian guests. We had stops at an ancient temple in Chang Rai were clearly most tour groups don't stop and had a very clear description of local culture and religious practices
Excellent tour of the countryside and the crowning glory the white pagoda.
Great but long trip and so worth it! Majority of the time is spent in the van but there are stops for food. The white temple is a must see in person. Truly a work of art and breathtaking. We had a family style lunch at a restaurant along the way which was delicious. Laos was nothing special though.
This tour was worth the journey .
Our tour guide Mr M was a master of knowledge and gave a more in depth history in relation to Thailand . There was only four of us in our tour , but this gave us more space and time to view the various places. A million thanks to Mr M and the driver Max .
