Christchurch Sightseeing Tour by Classic Double-Decker Bus (3 Hours):
Depart from central Christchurch in the morning or afternoon aboard a classic Routemaster — an open-top double-decker bus — and begin your 1-hour sightseeing tour of the Christchurch city center.
Hear insightful commentary about the city’s history and recovery efforts since the 2011 earthquake as you glimpse landmarks such as Hagley Park, the Bridge of Remembrance and New Regent Street.
Then transfer to a closed-top vintage double-decker bus for the 2-hour portion that takes you to greater Christchurch. Enjoy time at the beach in Sumner, where coastal views extend to the Southern Alps. Stroll around the botanical treasures of Mona Vale Gardens after a drive into the Port Hills with a vista overlooking the Canterbury Plains, then return to the starting point where your tour ends.
Please note: The open-top bus operates from November to April. From May to October, the full 3-hour tour will operate on a closed-top double-decker bus.
Be sure to schedule your second tour to Mt Sunday within seven days of the Christchurch tour.
Lord of the Rings Journey to Edoras from Christchurch (9 Hours):
Venture to filming sites from The Lord of the Rings trilogy during a full-day tour to Mt Sunday — aka Edoras to LOTR fans — reached by 4WD vehicle. Start with hotel pickup in the morning for the 2.5-hour drive to Middle-earth, and bump over rocky terrain to see the fictional capital of Rohan, home to Meduseld.
Following a short hike with your guide to the summit of Mt Sunday, soak up panoramic views of Tolkien’s Misty Mountains, the river Snowbourn and the valley of Harrowdale. Enjoy a picnic lunch of sandwiches and cake with Champagne before you are returned to your Christchurch hotel.
