What You Can Expect

Christchurch to Mount Cook One-Way Tour

Lupins in full bloom

After pickup from selected Christchurch hotels in the morning, board your coach for the scenic journey to Mount Cook Village. Travel through Otago farmland via the Canterbury Plains before heading inland to the countryside town of Geraldine for a morning tea break (own expense).

Back aboard the coach, you’ll motor over Burkes Pass for a breathtaking vista as you head toward Lake Tekapo. Stop here to explore the Church of the Good Shepherd, which stands on the remote shoreline of these glacial waters.

Your driver takes you up the western edge of Lake Pukaki, situated at the base of 12,217-foot (3,724-meter) Aoraki/Mount Cook, the highest peak in New Zealand. On arrival in Mount Cook Village, enjoy a three-course buffet lunch at the Hermitage Hotel (if option selected). Let your driver know if you’d like to include an optional scenic helicopter or ski-plane flight with a snow landing (weather permitting; paid direct).

Your tour concludes with drop-off at your Mount Cook hotel.

The trip was OK but we were left in the road with our suitcases when we reached Mt Cook Village, not in our actual hotel Mt Cook Lodge. Mt Cook is a small village so drop off at our lodging would have been a plus.
