Please make sure you read and get familiarised with the history of Portugal and Coimbra before you go
Renan is a wonderful phd candidate who can teach you a lot but you have to have some basic knowledge to appreciate his talent and effort.
Definitely a pleasure to have him as our guide.

Outstanding tour with Renan

The stunning Joanina Library is a do not miss experience when visiting Portugal. But you only get 10 minutes inside. Our tour guide Renan made every second of those 10 minutes count. His exuberance and love of history is contagious and I so want to take one of his history classes when he finishes his doctorate. One of the very best tour guides you could possibly hope for!

Renan was wonderful! He is so passionate about Portuguese history and it comes out during the tour. I learned so much and had a great time. The library is truly amazing as was the entire university .

The visit to the biblioteca Joanina was memorable and our guide made the visit that much more rewarding. He knew its history and was very passionate about it. Visiting the Royal Palace was also an excellent experience. Overall it was a very enjoyable tour and I would recommend it.
