A very pleasant and relaxing trip down the Rhine. The ship was comfortable and there is good quality catering, beer, coffee etc which can be enjoyed while sailing peacefully to Konigswinter. There is just about enough time to see the ruined castle and at this late in the season, there was no late boat back. Nevertheless this suited well to get back around 18.00 and the day was thoroughly enjoyable.
Tour was amazing. The view at the top of the Drachenfels Cliff was so beautiful. Well worth it.
Not quite what we expected but the destination of Konigswinter is lovely. Definitely recommend the cog rail trip to Drachenfels and the walk to nearby Scloss Drachenburg. Boat was comfortable with table service food and wine.
Es war ein wunderschöner Tag! Die Bootsfahrt und auch die Fahrt mit der Zahnradbahn auf den Deachenfels und Schloss Drachenburg waren sehr schön. Auch den Kindern hat es gut gefallen!!
Overall, a very nice cruise! Trip to Konigswinter felt a little long with not much narration about what we were seeing. But Konigswinter and Drachenfels Cliff more than made up for it. Konigswinter is an exceedingly charming little town and the ruins at Drachenfels had spectacular views.
Very nice tour overall. More narrative about the buildings along the Rhine would have been appreciated. The train to the top of the mountain was fun!
The cruise was quite interesting. About the only problem with it is that many people taking this cruise seem to be there as a social event which means that the small amount of commentary given on the cruise was quite difficult to hear. A suggestion for this would be to provide headsets to listen and then to vastly add to the amount of commentary given.
The cruise was very relaxing, romantic, and an enjoyable way to spend the day. The Sea Life visit was a small aquarium, with a moderate variety of see animals. I gave 4 stars because the return boat was over an hour late on arriving, however I was told that this was partly related to the low water levels on the Rhine. Overall, great experience, and would do it again!
This was a lovely way to spend a day away from the city of Cologne if you have already seen the other sights. The boat takes a leisurely trip down the Rhine to Konigswinter, with some commentary along the way. Plenty of cold drinks and bratwurst and other German delights being cooked fresh at lunch on the deck extra cost. We had about 2 hours to visit Drachenfels Cliff, we walked to the cog railway station which does not take long there is a little tram that will take you if you dont want to walk for a small fare. We took the cog train to the ruins and had a look around. There is a steep climb to the very top. We walked back down to the modern castle but sadly did not have time to visit that inside. There is a lovely view point of the new castle on the way down. The only reason i would not give this 5 stars is that we would have liked longer at Drachenfels.
Good Experience but there should be better and specific directions on getting to the correct landing when boarding and also on the cog rail directions.
The boat ride was nice and konigswinter view was breathtaking. I take a point because there was no live guide like mentioned, and even the recorded audio only spoke for the first 5 minutes through speakers and sound was low and unhearable. It's not a guided tour but simply a 4 hour scenic ferry ride
Enjoyed the great views of the river. The walk up to the cliffs ride was hard on us. I wish there had been transportation to get there. There was a misunderstanding about the time we needed to be back and we were really early so we didn't miss the boat back. Beautiful views.
The four hour ride down the Rhein was nice! The boat was very nice and clean, wasn't too pleased with the menu though, not too many options. Plenty of seating inside and outside on the decks. Drachenfels was beautiful and worth the view. The town was also nice with a few shops and restaurants.
We were looking forward to our cruise but were disappointed that the journey to the port at Drachen Fels took 5 hours. There was no announcement or apology or explanation for the delay. On our return to get the cruise ship home, your employee at the port did not know if the ship was going to be on time or not. It was 20 minutes late, and we were 1 hour late arriving in cologne. Again no explanation or apology. We did enjoy our day but just quite disappointed at the lack of communication.
The ship was nice and the tour as well. Really bad was the travel guide.
I could never recommend this. There were nearly no explanations about
what you could see or about area and it came from a tape.
There were not enough places to sit. We had a great deal of difficulty finding a place to sit, and had to sit in the restaurant and order food, which we did not want. Only limited audio, and not a great deal to see on this very long day trip. The sea life visit was appropriate for small children, but not for my older boys. We ended up taking a train home as my boys could not face another long boat trip back with little to see or do.
Saw one castle for a 10 hour excursion. Almost all of the time on the boat was in either a residential or industrial area. Definitely not the trip you want to take if your thought is to see the Rhine. The town we ported at was OK but no doubt it was laid out for tourists.
Viator did not fully inform us of our options before booking our ticked. Warning: the early return trip only occurs on certain days of the week. I believe it's only the weekend, but check with KD before hand. Viator does not tell you this when you pay and get the tickets. There was no early afternoon return on the day we went, and we did not hear about this until we showed up at the dock for the early return and the KD person told us we had to wait until the after 5 o'clock return. We would not have booked that day knowing this ahead of time, because we wanted to return to Cologne early to have dinner there and pack that evening. KD was fine, the tour was fine, but Viator needs to make their description of the trip more clear, and frankly, make sure the customer is fully informed before they purchase the ticket.
