What a memorable experience. We arrived by ferry from Cozumel and the driver was just where he was supposed to be upon arrival. It is a long drive, about 2 hours from the Ferry Station to Mayaland, so be prepared, but it is so worth it. Without a doubt it certainly belongs on the Wonders of the World list. Our guide at Mayaland was very good, and the lunch at the hotel was also good. We were in a group of 8, and our driver made sure that we caught our ferry on time. We appreciated it kindness and consideration during the long drive. We would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting the Yucatan Peninsula.

I left from Cozumel very early in the morning to take this trip. But I am really glad I did! My ferry ticket was included as part of the excursion. I was met at Senior Frogs by the driver as directed. We drove with a van of about 12 others roughly 2 hours away to the site. We entered through the hotel as promised. We were given a 2 hour walking tour with a guide that TOTALLY made the trip! Our tour guide has been doing tours for 40 years and his love of the area was infectious! We were at the ruins early so I was able to get pictures without a lot of people in the background. Then I was given lunch at the restaurant in the hotel. Great food and service. So glad I did this excursion. Knocked one off my bucket list!!

Tour was exactly as described. We were a bit concerned finding our with the ferry, but the tour staff made it easy by meeting up with us to give the ferry tickets and finding us once we arrived in Playa Del Carmen. Bus was nice and comfortable for the long ride to and from, and the included beverages with the package was a definite bonus. The ruins were very impressive and the hotel was very cool and relaxing. The whole trip was pretty tiring due to all the travel, but overall very good experience!

Our tour guide was amazing!! Couldn't have asked for anyone better. Very knowledgeable, ensured that everyone had a great time, and we could see everything we wanted. I wish we could have spent more time here, but this tour would be something that I would love to go on once more!!

When visiting the Yucatan, Chichen Itza is a must see for anyone interested in history or ancient cultures, .

There are many tour operators providing tours of this fabulous site, but I can't imagine an operator in better position to provide this tour than Mayaland Tours,'s contractor for this tour. They operate the Mayaland Resort which is adjacent to the Chichen Itza site with their own private entrance. The trip to from Playa del Carmen takes a little over two hours, one way. Fortunately Mayaland Tours use the Gray Line buses for transportation to the site from Playa Del Carmen, which were comfortable and professionally operated.

Our tour guide, Faustino, was friendly, approachable and knowledgeable. The tour progressed at an easy pace throughout the site with stops to learn of the history, culture and little inside details from Faustino.

The lunch, which was advertised as a 5-cousre gourmet lunch ... with beer and wine, has changed to an all-you-can-eat buffet with drinks at additional cost. The buffet however was stupendous with many local dishes to try and some international items, like hot dogs and hamburgers.

After lunch we had a couple hours on or own. Some of the tour returned to the site for another look or to shop the numerous vendors tables. Others took advantage of the resorts pool and bar.

The trip back to the ferry dock to Cozumel was another two hours, which tends to make this a long day, but the experience is well worth the time and the fee.

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed this trip. The buses were comfortable, the tour guide was knowledgeable and passionate about the site and it's people and history. We would recommend this trip to our friends and family.

This was a very educational and fun excursion. The tour guide was awesome. He shared information in both English and Spanish. The all you can eat and drink buffet was awesome! Swimming at the sink hole was definitively a unique experience. Be sure to bring your beach things. The ride was a bit long 2.5 hours each way, but well worth it. Truly a must do excursion.

The entire tour was nicely arranged, from taking the ferry to Playa Carmen and back. The driver was waiting for us at the dock and drove us to Chichen Itza. He was very nice and helpful. Our tour guide at Chichen Itza did a fantastic job of explaining the history - very enjoyable. Our lunch was lovely. Great food and service. All in all a great tour!

Nice small group that felt comfortable (12 ppl ). We got off the Ferry and we met by a person who drove us to meeting area/tour group. The ride was safe and my husband and I were happy that we didn't have to drive. The tour guide was knowledgeable. Lunch was excellent.

This is just an awesome place to see. The tour company did a wonderful job. Our guide was fantastic and lunch was delicious. One word of advice, take the umbrella they offer you to use when you get there. It can be insanely hot and there is not a lot of shade when walking around the ruins. You will be amazed how much that helps.

A very long day well worth it though we did not have enough time to explore this place on our own. We had a guided tour and our guide like to talk. It was a bi ligual tour.

Our guide was a charming man, but he was stuck with a group pf people speaking different languages. He had to give his spiel in English and then turn around and say everything all over again in Spanish. We literally spent half our time waiting for him to say everything twice. This was bad planning on the part of the tour company. There was so much more to see that he didn't have time to take us to.

The your itself was good, although time ran a little short.
We were not met in Cozumel as promised and ended up paying for our own ferry tickets, which were to be included in our booking.
The constant reminder that gratuity is not included and much appreciated is a complete turn-off.

The tour was generally good. The organization beforehand was poor.
Part of the reason that one pays a premium price for a Viator excursion is that the organization is usually very professional. That was not the case for this tour.
We called the Yucatan office - as instructed - a couple of days before to confirm the tour and get information on the rendezvous point. I was told to meet in front of Senor Frog's, right at the ferry pier. Having been past the pier earlier that day, this sounded wrong to me, so I made sure that the person on the other end of the phone understood that we were joining in Cozumel, not Playa del Carmen. I was assured that we should meet in front of Senor Frog's. We walked downtown to San Miguel and confirmed what the map had told us: Senor Frog's is 2/3 of a kilometer from the ferry dock. We were also given an 0630 rendezvous time, while the confirming email had set it at 0700.
I tried to phone back to the Yucatan office to confirm the actual rendezvous point. After being led around the rather circular phone directory system, I did manage to leave a message and left my email and phone number. This was over 36 hours before the start of the tour. I also left an email at the main Viator support number. I never received a phone call, text, or email.
It would seem that the Yucatan office closes by 5 PM, but that information is never mentioned when navigating the phone system. One just gets I'm sorry, no-one is available to take your call. Surely, callers should be informed about office hours.
Later I left a message trying to get the phone number of the local contact person. Again, no response.
Anyway, we turned up at Senor Frog's. Nobody showed up and we booted it to the pier, where we eventually found someone with a Mayaland clipboard who had our names.
We got onto the ferry ontime and were delivered to the ferry terminal in Playa del Carmen - right next to Senor Frog's.
We had been given the rendezvous point for the wrong city.
We had wasted a lot of vacation time trying to get in touch with Viator, and we had yet to hear from them 5 days later to find out about the problem we reported.
We have had great experiences previously with Viator in Porto and Ravenna, and we had come to expect much better - especially with the cost of this tour.
