Awesome local guide!
Kelly_A, Feb 2023
Our tour guide, Ed, was fantastic. He was very knowledgeable, a great storyteller, and very funny. We learned a great deal about Crete, ancient and modern. The weather wasn’t great but it still was so much fun!
Ed is the man!
Jordan_M, Jan 2023
Our tour guide, Ed, has gone above and beyond what we expected from a tour guide. He made our experience in Crete unbelievable. Even though it was winter and lot of places was shut down for the season, Ed took us to the most amazing sights on the island. He even took us to different sites that were not supposed to be included in the tour. Ed is very knowledgeable about the island the culture. His sense of humor definitely made our day. I can't wait to go back to Crete just to see Ed. Stay well my friend!
Really see the real Crete
Karen_S, Nov 2022
We visited Crete for Thanksgiving, so off season, and were delighted to find this tour was still available. Ed picked us up from our hotel, filled our heads with fun facts about geography, history, mythology, and so many jokes and funny stories too, while we drove up into the mountains for some spectacular views. We visited several charming little villages where we were able to stroll around and imagine living a rural life, while being absolutely stunned at the abundant fruit, herbs, and flowers growing everywhere, even in November. We visited Zues' Cave and took a quick walk through the "Thematic Park" which was amusing, but the real highlights of the tour were picking and eating strawberries, apples, walnuts, as well as the lunch at a small restaurant in one of the villages where we were treated to a cornucopia of fresh rustic dishes including house made wine and cheese. Seeing people harvesting olives in the fields and then visiting an olive oil pressing operation was also quite delightful. Ed was a great tour guide, like the friend in Greece you wish you had to show you around. He was very accommodating about the kinds of things and places we wanted to see and spend time on, and the activities where we were willing to spend a little less time. He was happy to chat about all the topics we were curious about and his genuine love for Crete was absolutely infectious. Ed has his own olive trees and taught us so much about that whole process, but also about the life of farmers in general. Everyone we met during our entire trip to Crete was friendly and helpful but Ed is king of them all. I am so glad we got out of the city and toured the Lassithi Plateau to really get a feel for how beautiful and bountiful and truly amazing Crete really is. If this tour is in your price range, and you like to see the countryside and learn about and enjoy fresh produce, you should seriously consider booking with Ed. This tour was one of the highlights of our trip.
Unique, authentic experience
Christina_T, Nov 2022
My family and I had a fantastic time with Eddie. We were given ample time to hike to the Cave and visit traditional villages for some sight seeing and lunch. The best part was going to the farms and having an authentic Cretan experience. We could not recommend this tour enough. The only thing I would have liked was more time to visit shops in the villages, however it did not make us enjoy the tour less. Next time we would call Eddie directly to have him host us again! Thank you for your hospitality and charisma! We hope to see you again soon.
A Great Day in Crete!
Gabrielle_P, Oct 2022
This was an absolutely wonderful tour! Our family had a great time seeing the "real" Crete with Ed. He was full of knowledge and patience and there was never a dull moment. Ed was really sweet with our kids and knew all the spots to stop, visit, and explore. We ate well, learned a lot, and had a lovely time. I highly recommend this tour.
Ed was very enthusiastic,...
Holly_M, Oct 2022
Ed was very enthusiastic, exciting and full of information, recommendations and assistance. Truly made this one of the best excursions where you remember information and don’t stare at your watch waiting for it to end. Took us off the beaten path to see local culture and also try local cuisine. Highly recommend with Ed!
A great, nearly private, tour
Rita_O, Oct 2022
Ed is a wonderful host. He never has more than 6 guests in his Mercedes minivan which makes for a nearly private tour. Ed is filled with facts and one cannot help but learn so much from him. The itinerary is quite interesting although you will need to be in good shape and a bit crazy to climb the rocky, steep, crumbling walk to the cave. The olive oil factory is very educational. A small operation with the 4th generation owner in attendance. We were on this tour in the middle of a rainstorm and so the usual stop to walk around one of the traditional. old villages became a drive through but was still interesting. Along the way when the rain abated we stopped to pick strawberries, cherry tomatoes and even shake a walnut tree to collect the nuts. The old, traditional wind mills and wind pumps are not really a stop because they are everywhere but we learned so much about them. Ed stops for lunch at a small, family owned restaurant but we had brought along our own lunch and that was perfectly acceptable. The day was more than great and there is no comparison with sitting on a bus with 50 other people and talking with Ed and 2 other couples. This is a great value and a great opportunity to learn about the Island of Crete in particular and Greece in general.
We highly recommend this tour!
Richard_S, Oct 2022
Our guide, Ed, was personable, knowledgeable, enthusiastic and fun. It was great to get beyond the city and shops to view a slice of the real Crete. One stop, Zeus Cave, was touristy but the rest felt traditional and genuine, a unique experience for travelers. We loved the old villages and sampled crops including peppers and delicious sweet strawberries. A highlight was our family-style meal of Greek specialties at a lovely restaurant. With only six clients in the spacious van we felt comfortable and enjoyed each other. This excursion is definitely the highlight of our trip so far!
See Crete from a non-touristic view
Enrico_S, Sep 2022
If you don‘t like big groups and mass tourism this tour is yours! We had the luck just to be 3 guys plus our amazing guide Ed. Visiting an oil fabric and afterwards driving through the hills and reaching Lasithi Plateau with spectacular views the whole day. Walking down to see the birth place of Zeus, learning about windmills, farming on Crete and their problems and end up with a traditional food from the island. Our guide was always taking a good care of us, customized the way and information on our interest and on top we got an entertainer on plus. Thanks for that special day!
My best day in Crete
Cassandra_C, Aug 2022
This was the tour of Crete I didn’t know I needed! Eddy was an outstanding tour guide and host, and through him we got to experience a different side of Crete than the touristy coastal towns. This was by far my favorite day in Crete.
Eddie is the absolute...
Amanda_G, Aug 2022
Eddie is the absolute best! He took us around to see everything, picked fresh fruit and vegetables, and told us interesting stories about the area as well as ancient myths.
Great day in Crete !
JeanFrancois_D, Aug 2022
Our guide, Eddy, was simply awesome. Good sense of humour, great explanations, knows many people and was very accommodating with all participants. We did like the stops around the plateau to see local plantations and small villages. All comments on this tour are accurate-a great day to see some of the Crete must see places. Highly recommended Thanks Eddy !!!
The Real Crete and its History
Jessica_K, Jul 2022
We had a great guide, Eddie, who showed us the real Crete with its rich history as well as what's happening now within the villages and with agriculture. Plenty of picture opportunities along the way with a great local Cretan lunch consisting of 3 courses. Highly recommend this tour for seeing the real Crete mixed with a touch of touristy with a stop at the cave.

Memorable Day in Crete
Walter_E, Jul 2022
This was a memorable experience with Eddie. Eddie was a jokester, a native and wanted to connect with people. He made the experience memorable. I would say it was the best tour I have ever taken yet. He showed our small group the real Crete. The restaurant he took us to was great with traditional food. It was funny to see how he added olive oil to typical Greek Salad. I would say about 80% olive oil and 20% salad. I was in a restaurant in Santorini and asked, where is the Olive Oil in the salad because I remembered how Eddie made it. Next time I'm going to Crete, I will definitely book another one. Thank you Eddie.

If you do nothing in Crete, book a tour with Eddie. It will be your highlight!

What you get booking a tour with Eddie? Excellent communication via WhatsApp, punctual pick up at YOUR hotel, not crazy meet up spots to look for, funny facts, interesting history of Greece, world facts and more. You will never have a minute of boring time on this tour. 30 minutes to get the the general area and you never spend more that 15 minutes in the car. He takes amazing photos, picks fruits and truly takes care of each member on the trip. It’s like going on a car trip with an old friend. Also, when Lunch is served, you not only get a delicious meal, but you get the everso fun bantering of Nikos and Eddie. I don’t think anything else I did during my 16 days in Greece could top this! I highly recommend booking this!
You will not be disappointed!
Lisa_W, Jul 2022
This was a fantastic tour! The tour guide Eddie is very fun - all while sharing his knowledge of the area. The walk up to Zeus Cave is strenuous and of course the weather was beautiful so it was hot. The cave is refreshing cool. The walk through the villages was very nice, Eddie is a great guide. We got to pick strawberries and stop at the pottery store and made a small vase. This tour gets you out of the tourist areas so you can see how the area was developed. It did not disappoint.
Great for the whole (extended) family!
Peter_B, Jul 2022
I was looking for an experience that spans across three different generations in my family and 8 people. This tour was good. Zeus’ cave was perhaps a bit over-rated though it was something different from normal beaches. But the drive to the plateau, the olive tour stop and the traditional lunch made it all worth it. Nikos was an exceptional guide (Zeus’ cave is not his fault!). I wouldn’t say that Zeus’ cave is accessible for elderly, less mobile people, but if one is halfway fit and mobile, you’ll be fine. Kids would love it. (Note, there are donkey rides up to the cave, if needed). We had a great day and especially thank Nikos for his efforts!

This tour is a must!
Angie, Jun 2022
This was one of the best tours we took while in Greece. Our guide, Eddie was fabulous! From the time he picked us up until the time he dropped us off he keep us laughing. He shared his knowledge of Greek history and culture. The villages we visited were stunning and the family style lunch was amazing! If you want to get away from the "city" and see the true culture of Greece, this tour is a must and Eddie is a true gem.

Our day of joy in Heraklion
Kristan_C, Jun 2022
We had the pleasure of spending the day with Eddie who shared his Crete and its history with us. Eddie knows everything! Ask him anything and he knows the answer. He says his knowledge base is from being a guide for many years and learning things from people all over the world! The tour was fabulous, we visited all of the places listed in the brochure. However, what made our experience special was the information Eddie gave us as we drove-the history of Crete, the geography of the island, how the population has shifted in the last 50 years, etc. But, he also picked mulberries off a tree for us to sample-who knew mulberries grew on a tree? We sampled plums and cherries off trees along the roadside. We enjoyed an amazing lunch in a beautiful little village. And Eddie entertained, cajoled and informed throughout. We laughed a lot and were very sad when we reached Heraklion and had to say good-bye. Don't miss the opportunity for a day of joy, bring your sense of humor!
