      Best Textile experience ever!
      Mirjam_R, Dec 2022
This workshop exceeded my expectation, it was everything I hoped for and then some! Anyone wanting an authentic Andean textile workshop should sign up. This isn’t the kind of workshop where there is someone showing you how they do this, in this workshop it is you actually collecting leaves, do the dying, learn to spin the yarn, and do the weaving (sometimes with a little help if needed, or wanted!). Edwin is a gem and so informative, with tremendous respect for preserving the Andean traditions and artisanship. I can’t wait to come back and bring some friends! Highly recommend this!
      Very Informative

Had a great day in Calca, learning about the natural, traditional ways to prepare yarn, collect plants, create dyes, dye yarn and finally weave. Note that the weaving part is REALLY challenging (in a good, educational way). It gives you a whole new perspective for the true art that these communities create. It is so valuable to society that they are maintaining their traditional ways. I feel privileged to have learned even a little bit. My only critique is that I wish that I knew that it was an hour+ drive from Cuzco. It would not have impacted my desire to take the class, it just would have been nice to know in advance. The driver arrived precisely on time and was very professional. So Edwin and his family did make it very easy. Oh, and lunch was delicious too!

THIS IS THE BEST THING I DID IN CUSCO!!!! I was in Cusco for 5 days and this was by far the highlight. I saw all the 5 star reviews for this workshop so I was very excited for this day but I still didn’t know what to expect. Now after I have done the experience this was probably one of the top 5 best days of my life. Everything was seamless and beautifully curated. It was amazing to have an entire day where I didn’t have to make any logistical decisions or worry about food, transportation, etc. Edwin and his father led me through their deep cultural and historical weaving process as well as spent a lot of time educating me on their community. The way they curated everything made me feel comfortable and at ease. Sometimes I get really frustrated with big crowds and a lot of tourism so if you’re looking for an experience of a lifetime and want to get off the beaten path, I can not recommend this enough!!

      We cannot recommend this...
      Lucy_F, Jun 2022
We cannot recommend this experience highly enough. By far the best thing we did of our 3 weeks in Peru!! We were picked up from our hotel and driven to the location, Greeted with beautiful flower petals. Edwin (whose family are all master weavers) translated the entire day. We were guided through each step in an interactive and engaging way from spinning the yarn, to going out to pick the natural ingredients for dyeing the wool, the dyeing process, setting up the loom to the actual physical weaving. It was a fantastic day and we both came away with a new appreciation for the art. In between parts we were presented with a delicious lunch. The ladies who taught us were patient and lovely. We came away with bracelets we (with some help) had woven and wool we had naturally dyed. If you can, I would 1000% recommend to book this experience - you really won't regret it.

      Fantastic day, really worth it
      Niall_M, May 2022
We had a wonderful day. It was a really hands on experience, spinning wool, foraging for natural dyes, preparing wool for dying, preparing dyes, dying wool, winding the wool into balls and weaving headbands. The entire time, we had excellent guidance and explanation. On top of this we had a delicious snack and lunch. At lunch everyone was very friendly and interested in us and where we come from. In the end we went home with two beautiful woven headbands, 4 balls of wool that we dyed ourselves and a few items from the shop. I would recommend this experience to anyone in the area, it was fantastic.

What an amazing experience with the Pimentel family! From beginning to end we really enjoyed the cultural tour and spending the day learning the traditional weaving practice.
Incredible Experience not to be missed!

Wow, this was an incredibly special day and I am so grateful to Edwin & Ruth for sharing their home and culture with me! I loved every aspect of this from the warm welcome I received to walking in the forest and collecting leaves, the natural dyeing of the wool and finally learning how to use a back strap loom. I also was enamoured with the delicious food they prepared - pineapple, passion fruit, papaya, avocado, yucca - all from the yard! I can't recommend this highly enough, especially if you have an interest in textiles, this will be a day you will never forget!

      Best Cultural Experience

Absolute must do excursion if you want to experience traditional Peruvian culture! This tour is run by a local family with generations of experience weaving textiles. They made us feel so welcome and shared their home and culture with us. The weaving process does take place on the floor, so be prepared to sit for a few hours. The artisans showed us how to weave a bracelet and then took it home. I would highly recommend to anyone who wants to immerse themselves in the native culture for a day.

This was the most amazing day. I feel so lucky to be welcomed into this family for the day and learn all about natural dyeing and weaving. It’s such a beautiful art form and so nice to learn about an important element to another culture’s history. 10/10 would recommend for an amazing day.
