Combine several different adventure activities on a single half-day tour from Punta Cana. Hop on board a powerful all-terrain vehicle, built for the rugged terrain of the Dominican Republic's interior, riding through a forest to a local organic farm. Taste coffee, chocolate, and rum before exploring a local cave and underground river. End up at Macao Beach for a chance to relax and swim before returning to Punta Cana.
Visit Macao Beach, one of Punta Cana's most impressive shorelines
Our guide David did any excellent job making sure we were safe and had a good time. The business part of the business however, could use some improvement. We booked our tour well ahead of the date we went. At the time, we provided the name of the resort where we were staying. The tour company waited til we got to DR (the day before the tour) to inform us that there would be an additional $120 charge for transportation to the tour. While the additional amount per person ($20) was not that much, they knew when we made the reservations where we were staying and should have told us of the additional charge at that time instead of after we got there.
Over all we really enjoyed this tour. The photos are a bit deceiving on here but it was still worth it. Our tour guide was great and we were lucky to have a small group of just two couples. The ATV's we used were relativity new and in good working condition. Very easy to operate and fun to drive. The cenote was refreshing and Macao beach is my favorite in Punta Cana. My biggest complaint would be that the tour was a bit rushed.
This was such a fun excursion for me and my husband. We had such a great time. Resort pick-up and drop-off were smooth and prompt. We were picked up in a large open caravan. The official company that this is through is Adventure Buggy's. When we arrived we had ample time to walk around the gift shop and drink some Mama Juana (Honey, Wine and Rum) while we waited for our group to be called to get on the ATV's next. The dirt roads produced A TON of dust so please bring a bandana and some glasses. They did have some available for purchase for $5 each. Also please be prepared to get in the water! Wear a swimsuit and some water shoes if you have them the bottom of the river in the cave was rocky and could injure bare feet. One thing that I wish I brought was a small beach bag to hold a towel and some water. Overall, it was a great trip, my only complaint is that we didn't spend much time in the Cave River or at the beach, about 20 minutes each.
First off I want to say the company and staff were excellent to deal with. The ATV part of the tour was excellent. The side trips were a waste of time.
Although there are only 10-12 in your ATV group, there are about 20 other groups going at the same time. When we reached the River cave, it was so crowed there was not enough time to even go down the steps to the water. We were only given 10 min at the River cave and 15 min at the beach. I would not do this tour again, but I would book just the ATV package
