What To Expect

A brightly painted safari vehicle picks you up in the early morning at your Bavaro or Punta Cana hotel. Get to know your local guide on the way to a typical Dominican country plantation.

Meet the local famers and hear about their organic farming methods, used to cultivate cinnamon, cacao, coffee, and vanilla. Taste coffee or hot chocolate, and take advantage of the opportunity to purchase some of these straight-from-the-source products to take home.

Climb back in your jeep and ascend a mountain road deep into the jungle. Arrive at Monkeyland, a 5-acre (2-hectare) squirrel monkey habitat managed by a dedicated couple. Follow your guide on a guided tour of the sanctuary, where you have the chance to watch and feed the monkeys. Visit the botanical garden, featuring native trees, plants and flowers, before boarding your jeep for transport back to your hotel at the end of your tour.

Not worth the money and waiting
Nasya_H, May 2022
This trip as a whole was not worth it. In general: poor organization, a lot of waiting, dirty jokes, vast groups of ppl (it felt more like a zoo). The coffee/cacao info was vague and it was in a hurry (10 min). The coffee and cacao tasting was more like a selling pitch, rather than an experience (also 10 min). Sometimes we had to wait without any info. You have to pay 5$ for a locker/or leave your belongings without supervision. Taking your own picture wasn't easy, because the moment you could do that (when they put some food on you) their photographer was taking over you, expecting you to get their pictures at the end. The monkeys were the only positive experience (30 min) from this whole day. In general 1 hour of activities and 5 hours of traveling and waiting.
Great experience and fantastic view
Rebeca_T, May 2022
My daughter enjoyed feeding and touching the monkeys. she is 2 and 2 months old and she had a great day. Monkeys were so cute and friendly. I really recommend this place. After the monkeys we visited the plantation, and got Great coffee, chocolate, mama Juana Drink and fresh coconut oil.
Awesome experience
Madelyn_R, May 2022
It was great our guide Juan Manuel and his driver were awesome. And the monkey sanctuary was beautiful. As were the monkeys themselves. Loved it.
Fantastic Tour❤️
Simone_H, May 2022
It was 5 of us and we had a good time. Our tour guide Chris Sexy Papi 6 was so funny but thorough on what we would see and learn. The monkeys were so cute and greedy. The tour was really educational as to how they make chocolate, etc. The coconut oil products are really good and their hot chocolate was fantastic. We would definitely do this again.
An incredible experience for the whole family
Gareth_W, May 2022
Hands down, one of the most incredible trips we have even been on. The interactive monkey experience was incredible and made my partners week. The guides are funny, entertaining and knowledgeable. You learn loads, get to sample local produce and have the option to buy, but no hard sales pushy reps. 10 out of 10, would highly recommend it.
Wow! What an experience!...

Feeding monkees and the view was amazeing on mountain. Pro Guides. Very well organised. Learned alot about Foninican Culture
Monkeys were great… drive was not!
CRYSTAL_R, May 2022
The good…. The monkeys are beyond worth this experience. You get multiple interactions and all of the workers (including transport guys - Jesus) were wonderful. The tour through the jungle and presentation about cocoa beans albeit interesting, we could have done without. The bad… be prepared for a very long day. We were the first to be picked up in Cap Cana at 1:30 and the last to be dropped off at 7:15. It took two hours to make it from Monkeyland to our resort after all the stops. Essentially, 3-4 hours on the bus and the remaining time at the excursion. On the fence as to if I’d do this excursion again. Monkeys were great, but six hours away from the resort and so much time spent on the bus was not my favorite.

Monkeyland Infomercial
alex_w, May 2022
We saw and interacted with the monkeys. The total time spent with the monkeys was about half an hour. Aside from the travel time of getting to the sanctuary approximately an hour each way most of the time spent was on the guides promoting local products i.e. Coconut oil, Mamajuana, cocoa powder, coffee, it felt more like an infomercial.
Great fun!
Katherine_V, May 2022
This tour was recommended to us by a neighbor, and it did not disappoint! The transport and your guides were good, and the monkeys were adorable (and I felt we had plenty of time with them as well as fantastic photos). I enjoyed the coconut house coffee/cacao presentation and samples - Disney feel as “sales pitch” as I expected based on other reviews. Highly recommend!
