What You Can Expect

Desert Experience: Camel Safari with Dinner and Emirati Activities from Dubai

Watch fascinating cookery demonstrations at your Bedouin-style desert camp

Begin your experience with a pickup from your central Dubai hotel. Settle inside your air-conditioned minivan and relax as travel into the desert.

Meet your camel convoy and enjoy a 45-minute ride on a camel. Enjoy the views as your camel lumbers across the sands: you’ll soon understand how these hardy herbivores provide ideal transport for nomadic Bedouins.

After around 45 minutes, arrive at a Bedouin-style camp inside a desert retreat owned by the UAE royal family. The compound stands amid rolling dunes and is illuminated by flame torches, giving it a truly Arabian feel.

As the sun sets, watch a falconry demonstration. Admire the speed and elegance of the falcons as they answer their handlers’ commands and swoop for lures.

Stroll into the dunes for photos of the sunset and enjoy a range of traditional desert activities inside a rustic-style Arabian tent. Sip Arabic coffee, get a henna tattoo, and learn to make Arabic breads with a step-by-step demonstration.

Next, settle at a low Bedouin table for a 4-course feast of typical Emirati dishes with sodas and mineral water. See the Itinerary for a sample menu.

Following dinner, choose to smoke a shisha (Arabic water pipe) and watch a display of traditional dancing and music under the stars.

Return to Dubai in your minivan and end your experience with a hotel drop-off.

Great experience. Very well organized. If traveling during winter months, be mindful of the weather. It gets cooler at night, since all the activities, including dinner are outside, make sure to have a war sweater/light jacket as it gets windy in the dessert.

This was fun. Everyone should ride a camel once. It's a bit of work hanging on as the camel negotiates the ups and downs of the desert, but worth the experience. Once at our destination we sat on cushions with refreshments while a fascinating falconry demo took place. The sun was just setting. Then we headed for tent-like structures, open on one side, with low tables where we had dinner. After dinner there were many activities to try, all those listed on the Viator website. We enjoyed them all. This is worth doing and gives you a feel for many aspects of desert life.

This was an amazing experience- We were picked up by 4 wheel drive from our hotel and driven out into the desert via the Camel Hospital and race track. When we arrived at the sandhills we were given head scarfs to wear had to look the part then up on the camel which i though was going to be quite hard was very easy for me i am 67. Then we were off for about an hour of just slowly going through the desert, and just as the sun was starting to go down we arrived at our destination a beautiful carpeted area in the sand and a refreshing drink, to watch a falcon show. Amazing birds. Then we hopped back into the 4 wheel drive and off to their permanent camp in the desert for our 4 course dinner, and soft drinks. Well equipped with toilets, while it was a little warm under the canvas of the tents it was a beautiful night. I had a henna tattoo etched on my hand. A fantastic tour, and strongly recommend.

This is a must do activity in Dubai. Super well organised activity. Our guide Aadil was outstanding providing lots of wonderful cultural and general information about Dubai and the experience we were about to take part in. We got picked up at 3pm from our hotel and then drove out to the desert to the camel meeting point or 4 wheel drive for those that opted for this activity. On the way we drove to the camel racetrack and saw some camel racing training taking place.
Before climbing on the camels we were dressed in our headgear. We then set off with our guide for a 45 minute fantastic camel ride over sand dunes through the desert as sunset approached. From there we got to a meeting point where we received a non alcoholic drink to watch the sunset and watch an impressive falconry display. At the end of the Falconry display there is also an opportunity to have photos with the falcon. We then moved into 4 wheel drives and drove a short distance to our campsite for a delicious dinner which included camel's milk and camel and other delights. Henna hand painting, dance displays both male and female, camp fire and shisha pipes were also available. We received great photos at a very reasonable price. At the end of the evening at approx 9pm we were returned to our hotel. Definitely the highlight of our Dubai trip.

Everything about experience was amazing. Sameer our guide was awesome. While he drove to the camel area he gave us a lot of history and culture of Dubai and what was up an coming. He even stopped so we could witness camel racing, which was a plus! The camel ride was nothing like a riding a horse. We rode for about 45mins and then witnessed a falconry show which was pretty cool. We then rode in a vintage land cruiser to the camp, where there was a henna tattoo station, a hooka station, a fire pit, and much more. The food was delicious and we couldn't stop eating. A tip is to not eat so much in the beginning because there is a lot of food and you want to try everything so space it out.

With only a short stay possible in Dubai, this was top of our list and we were not disappointed. Amit our able guide picked us up and with a relaxed humorous demeanor tended to our every need. After a 1 hour drive into the desert, a generous camel ride was followed by an informative falconry display and drive t o'camp' for an equally generous meal. No 1 on Trip Advisor for a reason....
