What You Can Expect

Blarney Castle Day Trip from Dublin

Visit the legendary Rock of Cashel

Greet your guide at a central Dublin location and climb aboard a luxury, air-conditioned coach destined for County Kildare. Gaze at the rolling green hills of the Irish countryside, and listen to commentary from your guide as you go.

After passing through picturesque areas like County Tipperary and County Kildare, arrive at the ancient fortress of Blarney Castle, famed for one of Ireland’s best-loved treasures, the Blarney stone. Ascend to the castle’s tower to kiss the Blarney stone and receive, according to legend, the skill of speaking in a charming and eloquent manner.

Travel onward to Cahir Castle and the Rock of Cashel in County Tipperary. Hear the legends that surround the imposing twin towers of the cathedral and take a guided tour of the structure’s Hall of Vicars and Cormac’s Chapel, home to the oldest Romanesque wall painting in Ireland.

Return to the coach for the journey back to Dublin, where the tour concludes.

What a day and an excellent driver and guide we had on May 16. While the driver talked a lot and sang all the way, yes really all the way, and back, he was nothing less than very interesting. He knew a lot about Ireland and we have enjoyed our trip to Blarneys Castle and all the other stops we made along the way. Great tour and grat driver.

Really enjoyed our trip to Cork. The Rock of Cashel was most interesting, and of course kissing the Blarney Stone at the Castle is a must! A wonderful surprise visit was Cahir Castle. Wonderfully preserved.

I highly recommend this tour. Our driver was fantastic, more like a tour guide, sharing local history as well as current events: the castles were amazing, the highlight being the grounds of Blarnery Castle. Cannot wait to return,

This trip was amazing! Our guide was wonderful and told some of the history of Ireland along with the history of the sights we went to. The bus was comfortable and the temperature was great as well. I would highly recommend this trip!

Great day! Great tour! The Extreme Ireland tour company actually changed this tour a bit from the title. Due to touring time constraints, there was no visit to Cork. This allowed more time to spend at the three castles: Blarney, Cahir, and the Rock of Cashel. Our tour guide, Noel, a retired school teacher, was a hoot! Very dry, but liked to sing to us. He was a very knowledgeable and enjoyable guide.

Our first stop, Blarney Castle, where we stood in line for about 45 or 50 mins which was short compared to the line when we left to kiss the Blarney Stone. The line wound up the many staircases of the castle, and though narrow in spots, was a very cool climb to the top. And, of course, the views from the top were beautiful! If kissing the Blarney Stone is something you want to do, then stand in line right away otherwise, you risk running out of time at this stop. As such, after the Blarney Stone line, we had to forego exploring the grounds further in order to eat lunch. We grabbed a quick bite at Christys Pub in the Woolen Center, across the street from the castle. Lunch was delicious and the room was nice and warm! We thawed as we ate!

Then, back on the bus and onward to Cahir Castle, picturesquely situated in Cahir town center, in County Tipperary. This castle is bordered by rushing water and a swan-dotted partial moat. It is a beautifully intact castle. We had a brief guided tour of the exterior, and then time to roam the rooms ourselves.

Then, back on the bus and onto the Rock of Cashel, another very cool castle! Walked up a steep incline to get to the castle entrance. Then enjoyed the brief, but interesting, historical movie before exploring the grounds on our own. Then, back on the bus for the ride back to Dublin.

Alec was a great and informative driver/guide. He pointed out insider sites and kept us up to date on arrival times, bathroom breaks etc. We experienced a disappointment when we arrived at Cashel, walked up the hill to entry and was informed it was closed. Alec handled this obstacle like a pro! He went out of his way and drove us to Cashir so that we would get the inside of the castle experience. He said it was a bit of a test because he hadn't been there before but we so appreciated him taking a chance as we got to see 3 castles on this trip! With the 3 castles Cashel, Cashir and Blarney and the day trip to Cork it was a great tour.
