Full day tour to the eastern side of Ireland with Patrick of Elegant Ireland Tours. We stop in Limerick along the way for a visit to King John's Castle - very understated as castles go but affords a lovely view of the town. We continue to to the Cliffs and run the gamut of weather, wind, rain, rainbows and sun. Fortunately, by the time we reach the cliffs the wind has died down somewhat. We opt to take the optional ferry boat which offers beautiful views of the cliffs from the water - the seas were pretty big so it was a bit of a ride still fun. We had lunch in the town of Doolin then walked along the top of the cliffs. Absolutely stunning views!
Graham was the best. He was warm and friendly and made the 3 of us feel right at home. I was so happy with the small group and thankful that the tour was not cancelled. We enjoyed the cliffs, both small and large. We also had lunch at a local pub that Graham knew and got to enjoy a little local culture. Thank you Graham. You were the best.
What a great tour! We started the day off with a stop to buy some breakfast items at a petrol station. Don't be like us and ponder your options, it will sell out! Go straight for the sandwiches!!
Kings John's Castle was a little underwhelming, but still a nice stop to have a look around a castle. There were some great interactive activities inside the museum section. The view from up in the tower was beautiful, so make sure you go up there!
The Burren was absolutely beautiful and a great opportunity to take some amazing photos. We had a windy day, which meant it was rather cold up on the cliffs. Be sure to rug up for this trip!
Lunch was at an old pub between the Burren and the Cliffs of Moher, with the usual pub options for food. The Clam Chowder was delicious!
The last stop of the day is the Cliffs of Moher. We headed to the right, however I do believe the left may have been the better way to go. The view was spectacular.
I highly recommend this tour while in Dublin. It is a long day, but well worth it!
Weather was rainy and windy but that didn't take away from the experience. The Cliffs are breathtaking. Lunch was at a small pub which was wonderful.
Great tour with Patrick! He is knowledgeable, engaging and allows for quiet time to soak in the countryside. Highly recommend it.
Si nice! Driver do everything to be sur than this trip will be perfect. And it was.
This was an exceptional tour. Small group. incredible sights. Excellent host Patty. Very good food. Right amount of time. Comfortable bus. Loved it! If you haven't yet, recommend raincoats comfortable walking shoes and no umbrellas to guests.
What an amazing experience this tour was! Rowland Row was an amazing tour guide going out of this way to make this tour an amazing experience. We had a tour bus all to our selves which made this tour such a great experience. Row explained and provided amazing facts and such wonderful entertainment during our journey! This is definitely an amazing tour with an amazing guide!
Thoroughly enjoyable. Our driver was very knowledgeable and the coach was very comfortable. All of the these sights are worth the trip- got a great view of views across Ireland.
Our guide Rowan from Elegant Irish Tours picked us up in a very nice 16 passenger van that was very comfortable. It was equipped with wifi and power outlets to charge your phones. Bring your car charger Rowan was very friendly and knowledgeable he gave us great information about Ireland in general and our destination in particular. Our first stop was King John's Castle in Limerick. It is a good example of a 13th Century castle and has a nice visitor center with great information about its history. The castle has been partially restored and the rooms and towers are fun to explore. The tower has a beautiful 360 degree view of Limerick and the river Shannon. Our next stop wound through quaint country roads and we made it to The Burren. We saw the edge of this national park where it meets the sea. They call this area the Baby Cliffs as they resemble the Cliffs of Moher, just smaller. There was a beautiful view of the Aran Islands from this location. Our next stop was a quaint pub in the town of Doolin for lunch. We enjoyed our lunch not included in the tour price outside on the picnic tables since it was a beautiful sunny day. The food was tasty and the Guinness cold. After lunch we headed to the Cliffs of Moher. We had ample time to hike along the cliffs to the tower to the right and or the higher cliffs to the left. The views are unparalleled and we were blessed with beautiful weather to enjoy said view. On the way back to Dublin we made a pit stop at Bunratty Castle where they offer a pub, gift shops and restrooms. The gift shops have an amazing array of Irish gifts. Once back in Dublin our guide dropped us in front of our favorite pub O'Donoghues on Merrion Row Happy coincidence?!?!. Long story short - this was a fantastic day and I am glad we booked this tour.
Patrick was a good guide and kept us entertained on the trip. King John's Castle was nice and I would have liked to spend more time there. We completely lucked out with the weather and were able to take a ferry ride to see the cliffs from the bottom up before lunch. Then after lunch, we got the opportunity to explore the cliffs.
Awesome tour thanks to our driver Pat. Saw some fabulous sights and local color as well. I highly recommend this tour for a good taste of the county.
The sites are amazing and well worth the trip. However, it is a long day and would eliminate St. John's Castle from the tour to get to the good stuff and make day shorter. Desmond our guide was fabulous!! His pride in his country and knowledge of its history was amazing. Can't say enough good things about him.
First, although this tour is a little more expensive then some, the group size and tour guide Patrick made it all worth it. King John's Castle in my opinion was average, but the stop did provide for some great landscape pictures sitting atop the town of Limerick. The lunch stop at the pub in the town of Burren offered really good Irish cuisine options and the chance to break up the day with a pint. The Cliffs of Moher are out of this world. Truly the cliffs were my favorite sight on my entire European vacation which spanned three different countries. Personally I wouldn't waste your time doing any of the boat rides to see the cliffs as the boats don't get close enough to the cliffs in my opinion to make it worth it. I would just walk a top the cliffs where there are several areas that you can get crazy close to a sheer drop and feel the immensity of the cliffs. Lastly our bus driver/guide Patrick was a Rockstar! He has an awesome sense of humor and a vast historical knowledge about all things Ireland, and provides the history when relevant throughout the trip.
Our tour guide Desmond made the trip for us. He is highly knowledgeable of the area and has such a fun personality. I loved the small group aspect of it. Would highly recommend.
Loved Gavin; he took great care of us on our 12 hour adventure. Timing (sites, stops, health breaks, lunch, shopping) was perfect and the sites, wonderful.
Elegant Tours did a great job. Thank you.
Amazing trip. Great vehicle. Laidback atmosphere with a great guide. Awesome views of the countryside and flexible time at stops. Limerick and King John's Castle were great, the country side stops at historical sites, photo ops, and neighborhood pub were fantastic. Ample time at the cliffs and they are simply breathtaking. Every corner along the trail is like a whole new view, each better than the last.
Had a wonderful day! Our guide made sure our trip was wonderful. Highly recomend
